yokine9a 1 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 If you like the design/colour/pattern of the door & ceramic tiles, why not? You probably need to pay more to get a contractor to do the same work for you.
h4happy 1 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 My experience: Last time my mother's house also use italy ceramic tiles...one disadvantage is that when many pple steps on the tiles, it become oily and feel sticky. porkypig 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2008 I would suggest not to take up HDB $3K ceramic tiling work.. Better to source your own and you can get to choose design/colours you like. I believe yours is 4rm flat? As for the doors, 5 doors is inclusive of 2 doors for the toilets and 3 doors for BRs .. If you are thinking of doing bi-fold doors for toilets, then don't take up the offer.. Coz for me i realise that after i took up OCS for 5 doors, my toilet doors are timber doors...?? Which i think timber doors wouldn't survive long in wet areas... Just my 2 cents worth...

gladyslim 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2008 My design & build 4A flat comes with ceramic fllooring. If I got the money, I replace all. The workmanship is so terrible that not only my unit, a numbers of my neighbour/friend's unit floor have very bad crack even after the replacement by HDB. Another bad workmanship is uneven flooring. My girl slipped in the toilet and get a cut by the tile. Now not only flooring, my wall tiles also started to crack here and there.
hihihi 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2008 1) Ceramic tiles are out of fashion. 2) Timber doors are not practical for toilets. Can't handle wet. Full swing can hit someone/thing. 3) Worksmanship is questionable when it's mass laid. if offer only 3 timber doors for the bedrooms, then can take. 5 doors means including 2 toilets. Conclusion: don't take.
prodesign 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 1. agreed 2. agreed---totally not suitable 1.huge swing radius (hit ppl sitting on toilet bowl)2. warped after years 3. Actually HDB projects' workmanship is the same if not better than private projects. There is bound to be workmanship issues for all projects coz these works are done by foreign labourers and they are equipped with only the bare minimum knowledge and skills. However, HDB have more stringent checks and Q.C than private. so i believe that their work should be better. (just my opinion)
