lushbelle 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 I have decided to start a blog to update on the moving and renovation progress of my mum's new place. As i'm going to decide n plan most of the renovation and Of cos i do not know much of all these stuff so i plead u guys to come in to share with me with your ideas and advise! Tentatively i am packing up my own house as i have sold it off already but do not want to commit to another place because it's so expensive now! so moving back to my mum's place for a year then will monitor the price will drop or not.. Have done abit of homework on renovation stuff, seriously i prefer to deal honest contractor so i will be stress free and time saving to recify problems too. New house is a resale 4rm flat at bukit panjang, 20yrs old already so i have to hack away all the tiles and cabinets away. Will be doing the whole house tiling, toilets, kitchen and of cos my room I have gotta a few quota fm some ID, all estimated to be above $30k so while there is still time, i am still searching for a lower quotation (trying to save more, recession already do not wish to spend too much) Native02 had recommended me his contractor... so far i went up to see his almost completed projects so far so good, workmanship not bad so now waiting for his quotation back to me. mmycheng 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 (edited) Hello lushbelle. Welcome! Just ask anything and I'm sure the friendly people here in this forum will share advice with you. Unfortunately, I used an ID and not a contractor so I can't recommend any for you. Edited October 13, 2008 by mmycheng

lushbelle 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 Oh yes. Here you go, I really dont like the toilet bowl position in the common toilet, it's so diffcult to use and i know it's not possible to change the position. Haiz

lushbelle 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 It will be my mum, me n bro staying in the house and i am entittled to the MBR Because my mum say i m the most fussy so she give me MBR. But i will just stay for a year then i moved out n let the MBR back to mum. I am trying to customised dressing table with some storage places but i seldom see any so am still looking out for some ideas..
applefreak 1 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 if you are going to 'return' the MBR to your mum maybe you want to keep the design elderly friendly very rare to see a unit with all the walls 'unhackable' not much choice in playing around the layout
mmycheng 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 Perhaps you can discuss with your mom on what her needs for dresser will be and that will also help you design something. Otherwise, when you move out, the customised space will be wasted. If your mom don't need it, then you can probably buy it as a loose piece of furniture to 1) save cost and 2) reduce wastage. I have done up a WIW with a dresser as part of it...but it's still not finished so can't really see the dresser storage space clearly. I have a pic in my blog. Have already discuss with her so i wont be doing WIW unlike my present place now, but when i look at the floor plan, it's also not easy to do WIW in this MBR WIW cos u look at the toilet and window is at the same wall. wow .. practically almost whole house also beam >.> but the original layout already pretty good This 4Arm layout i think not much 4rm are build in this way, dont know where should i place the dining table also. tower 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 You can try hacking the kitchen wall and create a space for the dining area if you do not need such a huge kitchen. U can refer to my blog for a sample of the space. Should be more or less like mine. As for the MBR, since you are only temorarily staying, suggest that u dun't waste $ on WIW. Quite impractical.
