LittleDevil 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2008 Errr... what is drop? (sorry I am unaware) Mine is a resale flat. Just need to add shower screen. The purpose of having either drop or kerb is to prevent water from wetting the entire bathroom during shower. Guess it exists for functional reasons.
donut88 1 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 Errr... what is drop? (sorry I am unaware) Mine is a resale flat. Just need to add shower screen. a drop is where yr shower area is lower than your toilet floor. a kerb is a block of cement that protrude out of the floor. so that means each time u want to walk over it, u need to lift up yr legs. if not, u will trip over the kerb nowadays, kerbs are old fashioned liao..... a drop is more sleek and less obvious. mine is resale flat also and i do a drop. priyalok 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 Mine is also resale flat. A bit sceptical about kerb (personally i don't like the design, but agree the functionality). Is there any other way to block water while using shower screen. Can't there be some sort of rubber sealing at the bottom and if the door opens inside, is it really necessary to have a kerb. I am not thinking of changing existing tiles.
LittleDevil 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2008 Alternatively, you can use the plastic sliding shower screen. It has a bottom track and you need not redo the flooring.

I am not thinking of changing existing tiles. maybe u should tell us how does the floor looks like now? is there a drop there already? is it a just flat floor? if u are not changing the floor tiles, then it is not possible to do a drop or a kerb. actually a kerb still can be done, because it's just a added pc of cement over the floor surface. and u decide on the tiles to use to cover the kerb. but for a drop, the contractor needs to hack and make your shower area lower than the other side of the floor. priyalok 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2008 Currently it is tiles all over (flat surface). I understand a drop can not be done. I presume, the screen door comes with some rubber kind of thing at bottom which keeps it flush with the floor. After bath, once the door is opened (door open inside) it will wipe the floor and push any water inside. If I keep a towel outside floor, do I still need a kerb? Any comments?
