wow i like ur kitchen that glass backing

is it expensive?

is it resistance to heat?

Thanks, it helps make the small kitchen look better. Saw so many other forummers with nice glass backing, so decided to take the plunge.

To supply and install this 6mm full panel tempered glass with white spray painted backing costs $680.

It's supposed to be heat-resistant, but we don't do heavy cooking, so I think should be ok.

hi, so for your wardrobes & kitchen cabinet.....you only change the laminate? or change everything?

it really looks good leh!

oh yah, your toilets really looks greats after the change! good choice!

Actually we removed all the previous wardrobes and kitchen cabinet and got new ones.

I think the previous owner's tenants didn't really maintain the wardrobes and cabinets - strong funny smell and all yellowish inside.

The new kitchen cabinet doors laminate (wenge-coloured) was not what we wanted, so our contractor changed the doors for us when we wanted to get it rectified with the laminate company.

Thanks for the compliment. Thought better to change now, since these are fixed things and we had budget for them.

Will not be buying much furniture/appliances though cos using existing ones.

Glad we changed the toilets too, read many other forummers mention that tiling is messy and best to get it done first if possible.

Also thinking of long-term and easier maintenance. Kinda look more spacious and brighter now. Thanks!

Your home is coming together pretty fast too, see you've been busy shopping for all your furniture ...

Ya, come to think of it - it looks curved, but it's not. Think my hubby's photography skills are improving?!

It's actually angled cos the shower area is just in that small corner.

The shower screen is part of our reno package with Tong Hong: Supply & install one set 10mm tempered glass shower screen $580. Doesn't include shower kerb, tiling, etc.

We bought the Rubine 1-door stainless steel mirror cabinet from Asia Excel (Balestier) for $134.

In the master bathroom, it's a 2-door version at $164. Bought quite a lot of stuff from them, so got 2 PVC bottletrap FOC + discount.

Asia Excel has different brands/models of mirror cabinets in their catalogue.

Think other bathroom shops has the same concept - not everything is displayed.

We saw similar mirror cabinets in Ikea and Poh Joo, etc. But after reading some forummers mention that Ikea's chipboard won't last cos of bathrooms' moisture, decided to get stainless steel.

We're not very good at drilling holes into tiles.

Paid our contractor labour to install 2 sets of bathroom accessories $100.

yes, agree...... :)

Saw your WIW - very nice and neat layout.

Your place is way bigger than mine - more things to buy/get, good to be able to use existing ones if still ok.

Did you find any bedroom sets suitable for your sons at Star Furniture (Thomson)?

My sister bought a set for her son recently - looks good and service was ok.

Yes, that's the best part - when the new stuff you ordered finally gets to your home and the picture starts looking more complete - very, very exciting - have fun!

Yep, we don't cook, usually use a microwave to heat-up/cook or rice cooker for steaming, eat out or have tingkat dinner delivery.

Thinking of buying those portable single induction hobs (like the one tower's seller had), just in case.

Thanks for the compliment. Hope to make this small home cosy and easy to maintain ...

More pix before we move on Friday.

I think so too, cos your kitchen much bigger ...

Thanks, actually my hubby wanted the glass backing more than me. I thought it was too expensive.

We didn't do any wall tiles in the kitchen - just plastered over old tiles, then paint.

Lovely glass backing! May I know the dimensions of the tempered glass backing? Its length by width. Any1 knows the range of price quotations for installation of hood?

Sorry, didn't reply earlier, we moved on Friday, Oct 17th, busy doing last-minute packing before moving, then unpacking till today.

Think stainless steel backing more expensive than glass backsplash? If so, then yours is a good deal.

Yep, the wall tiles are overlaid cos of concealed pipes and wiring. Will be too costly if we hacked and accidentally damaged the concealed stuff. Thanks for the compliment, we're glad the kitchen reno is what we envisioned.

Didn't remove the old cornices cos still ok condition and can save some money.

Nope, didn't do any rewiring or reposition power points. We make do with the existing ones cos those are enough - thank goodness.

Thanks, we like the glass backing too (especially my hubby)!

Just measured it: 192cm (l) x 59cm (h).

Sorry, don't know the cost of hood installation cos we don't have a cooker hob & hood ...

Yep, now the furniture's in (we moved on Friday, Oct 17) but still unpacking and reorganising where to put what. Everything is everywhere!

I think must do as you do ... one thing at a time ... more organised ...

Wow! By December ... I think for you can ... from your pix, you're almost there. Will be looking out for more of your pix/updates in your blog!

Didn't realize why we had so many "flies" buzzing around outside our master bathroom window, till I poked my head out one day and saw a beehive ...

Had to call the pest control company to remove it on Oct 22. Measured about 17cm long. Still have one or two "lost" honey bees coming back to visit though ...
