rustgal17 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2008 Thanks for the tips! I have a feeling it's the same quality. We bought ours from Lite Vault (opposite Palace at Balestier). The glass very, very thin too. Think we'll probably have to change when it starts rusting too badly later. Thanks, we bought the WC + wash basin in master bathroom for package deal of $288 from Lookz. I saw your blog but don't remember seeing your WC pix. From the drawings, it looks ok, you know. The 3D drawings are very impressive though - colours and design different, bold. Hi, you mentioned that you brought your WC and wash basin for $288 - Is it inclusive of installation? We brought a 5 years re-sale cond too and the most of the utilities in the Apt is still in good working condition and I am not sure if I should change the WC. If it is too expensive then I rather leave it and change the seat only. We got the place since mid July but have no time to look into the renovation yet. We've to pay our contractor for that. We ordered the set on Sept 6, there was a promotion banner outside Lookz then. If you've checked the WC and they're still in good working condition, no bad stains, etc - perhaps you needn't change? Can save some money. Initially we wanted to keep the 2 WCs and just do the tiles overlay, remove vanity tops/wash basin etc. But cos of overlay, have to remove WC first then reinstall. On that day of removal, the plumber called to say that previous silicon/cement badly done and when he removes WCs, they will break, one also had hairline crack. So no choice, got to get new ones. We got the keys to our new place in mid-August and 2nd appt on 28 Oct, so have to get stuff done and move out in time. If you don't need to move in quickly, then can source around more before buying ... i bought a very common wc used by most of de forumers. baron w303 from indulge at 250 with pancollar. yeah. de whole house is red, black n white. either u love it, or hate it. bought quite abit of kitchen cutlery from robinson today too I think the WC brand is Cassanova or something like that - not branded, with pancollar. Many shops now selling fabric drum type or chandeliers. I think Balestier still has the most lighting shops in one road, then Jalan Besar. Geylang now very light shops here and there. Good luck shopping for your new lights.

Hi, nice owners of our-home - ya, most likely we keep everything intact and do a general cleaning with one of the specialised cleaning company so that they can really get all areas cleaned. After we received the keys from the first owner, I got a contractor to do the painting of all the ceiling walls and also to varnish the floor and cabinets, etc but the contractor did a rather bad job with the painting and the varnishing of all the wooden doors, they simply put the varnish over the wooden door without even sanding off some of the stain, etc. We were in Singapore only a week to receive the keys and with the 3 days painting job, it ends up rather sour. Anyway, we intend to attach wall-papers for all the walls in the apartment as we love wall-papers. Edited September 28, 2008 by rustgal17

That's unfortunate - only a handful of contractors can be trusted to do the job well without us owners checking on them all the time. We're actually thinking of doing a TV feature wall with wallpaper, 2m (w) x 2.2m (h) and were quoted $150 for the wallpaper + $200 for labour. So still thinking about it. saving money first most important before i can get the lights.. broke for a year already.. Ya, same here. Think many of us in the same boat. The cutlery is a good buy. Is it better to get wooden or plastic chopping boards? I'm still not clear on this ... Your reno start date this week, right? I know the wall-paper is quite ex in sg and we brought ours from Germany. We attached the wall-paper in our current place and it looks great. If you like, you can go to my blog under MY WORLD - to see the quality of the wall-paper used. We intend to do the same for our new place. If you like, you can DIY the wall-paper. It is very easy and we can show you when we do ours.

Guest our-home Report post Posted September 30, 2008 Some updates: Yard door: Before After painting: Sept 19 With new lever lockset: Sept 26 Bedroom door lockset: Before With new lockset I know the wall-paper is quite ex in sg and we brought ours from Germany. Your current home looks very very cosy and you guys did a good job with the wallpaper. My hubby DIY-ed all the light switch covers and we'll be buying some loose Ikea furniture to assemble and fix up on our own. Doubt if we have enough energy and time to DIY wallpaper too... Also the place now so, so super dusty - fine cement powder/dust everywhere, I mean, everywhere. Even the painted walls feel powdery. The apartment is on the high floor and it's very windy there - I think it'll take us a few days to clean all that fine dust away before we can move in. Look forward to seeing pix of your new place!
