Hi, I'm back from moving house today!

Fwah...ahockz...either you woke up very early to check renotalk or you're just going to bed... :o

Thanks everyone for all your very encouraging words! I am flattered that my home design has inspired some of yours. More importantly however, I hope to share my mistakes so that you take note and hopefully it doesn't happen to you too. I got many useful tips and advice from fellow forumers here during my reno process so I guess it's just right for me to do the same.

I am now sitting on my nice comfy bed, typing away on my laptop..hehe :P It's a wonderful feeling, being in your own home... don't really know how to describe it...I guess words don't do it justice.

Haha...you're right mwerkz, open house on fri is a lousy choice...my bad... Anyway, if anyone would like to drop by for a visit, you are most welcome! I love having guests over, feels like my uni days when I stayed out with a bunch of friends and we had people over almost every other day! New found freedom!! Hooray!! :D

Hb and I went out today to buy a few household appliances...will take photos to show you all tmr ok? Goodnight!

mmycheng, i think can answer your feelings in one word le... "HOUSEPROUD" is more apt for first time home owners esp newlyweds.

A home is a safe and personal haven to lounge, go home to everyday & best, privacy. That's what makes it even more special, so can understand why :)

Thanks everyone for your compliments and well wishes. I'm really happy to see my house done and a pleasure to share my joy with you all! :D

Junxian, I totally understand that feeling...I was like so excited during the reno process and would find every opportunity to go see how the house was transforming...hehe...anyway, your house is lovely too! very bright colours on the walls!

Haha...porkypig, you have a good memory! I won't forget the curtains...dun worry. Andrew from MGL came over to take measurements last Sunday so the curtains should be ready in a few weeks. There are also lots of other pieces of furnishings which we haven't bought...most important of all..the TV! Haha...waiting for SITEX on 27 Nov...:P

Anyway, my mom spotted something 'wrong' in one part of my kitchen. Some advice for those who are making suspended kitchen cabinets....

See the kitchen sink pic below? The bottom white PVC hose should be easily removable in the event of a clogged sink as dirt accumulates in it. However, because the cabinets have been shortened to make it look suspended, the PVC hose now touches the base of the cabinet and cannot be unscrewed out in the event of a clogged sink... The solution? Not sure yet though... told my ID already but likely she has to cut a hole through the cabinet base. :dunno:

hihi....I recommend that once in a while mix a bowl of warm/hot water wif detergent, it will help to get rid of those sludge at the choked area. In this way you wont need to open up to clean or drill a hole to change. better still if u get the chrome metal or stainless steel type then you dun even need to change it...its all about daily/ monthly maintainence to prevent any chokage. hee :)

hope my suggestion can be of useful to you.

Thanks shogen79, I did what you advised. Hopefully, the pipe won't get choked so easily. Also, my plumber came down yesterday to rectify the problem...at first we wanted to drill a hole through the bottom of the cabinet but he told us that we can remove the top part of the pipe, move it aside and then remove the bottom part. This way, no holes needed. :D

And guess what?? Our plumber turned out to be the boss's father (i.e. father of HomeSuccess's boss)!! shocking right?! So all these while I was talking to this uncle who actually is a multi-millionaire...and he was like getting down on his hands and feet, getting wet and grimy doing my plumbing...such a hardworking man at his age! :o

Anyway, as promised, here are my two latest purchases for the home. We used the vacuum today and I must say it is very good! Simple yet effective, the wheels are very easy to turn too. The phones are ok too, just wanted something simple and inexpensive. :)

Are your phones cordless? am thinking of getting for my home too. hehe looks cordless to me.

Only 1 of them is cordless and it's also a DECT phone. The other is not. The cordless I placed in the study room and can move around with it easily. The other is at the bedside so stationary also nevermind. I got them for 40 plus at HN. :)

Yo, just to check with you, that vacuum cleaner u bought is a karcher model right? Can this model clean the carpet effectively as well as I heard from a friend on the pros of karcher models

Hi BunBun, yes it's a Karcher. The model I bought is a wet and dry vacuum. In the dry, it can vacuum hard surfaces and carpets. The brushes provided are suitable for carpet use. As for the wet function, it can suck up water and people have used it to clean wet places like toilets, small pools, water fountains etc. The machine has separate compartments for wet and dry dirt.

It's not expensive. I got it for $169 at HN. :)

Sounds good. I go and check it out. My vacuum cleaner broke down again 2nd time and its not even a year yet. The 1st time it broke down, white smoke came out and burning smell like that because of the stupid motor. 2nd time same problem even though the motor has been replaced. :bangwall: And carpet cleaning svcs is very expensive too.

Hehe...actually I bought the low end Karcher model... it's a simple machine with a powerful motor for good suction. I figured I rather spend the money on a simple, reliable German brand than pay the same amount for a more fancy model from other less reliable brands. :)

For the other Karcher models with better air filters and more functions, you will have to shell out at least $400!! :P
