Mandy & Lincoln - Renovating Our First Home

Recommended Posts

Thanks everyone for your compliments and well wishes. I'm really happy to see my house done and a pleasure to share my joy with you all! :D

Junxian, I totally understand that feeling...I was like so excited during the reno process and would find every opportunity to go see how the house was transforming...hehe...anyway, your house is lovely too! very bright colours on the walls!

Haha...porkypig, you have a good memory! I won't forget the curtains...dun worry. Andrew from MGL came over to take measurements last Sunday so the curtains should be ready in a few weeks. There are also lots of other pieces of furnishings which we haven't bought...most important of all..the TV! Haha...waiting for SITEX on 27 Nov...:P

Anyway, my mom spotted something 'wrong' in one part of my kitchen. Some advice for those who are making suspended kitchen cabinets....

See the kitchen sink pic below? The bottom white PVC hose should be easily removable in the event of a clogged sink as dirt accumulates in it. However, because the cabinets have been shortened to make it look suspended, the PVC hose now touches the base of the cabinet and cannot be unscrewed out in the event of a clogged sink... The solution? Not sure yet though... told my ID already but likely she has to cut a hole through the cabinet base. :dunno:

Yeah...anyway there's already a hole for the drainage pipe...so another hole won't make any difference... ;)

And for the record...i really don't like packing and unpacking stuff... :furious:

Our kitchen

Hi Cheng,

Can I consult you regarding the tempered glass in your kitchen? After your ID make rectification, is the black tempered glass one whole piece of glass with a cut out for the hood? I also did the tempered glass for my kitchen .. but was unhappy that is turn out this way ...

pieces of tempered glass are put in place instead of one whole piece so there is a unsightly line. Thus, if urs can be done as one whole piece, I will get ID to redo. They got the color wrong as well :(

Appreciate your help. Thanks :)

i think is like tat. cos for ur contractor to cut the glass with edges, it will be rounded, n abit ugly. unless is black glass, can use silicon to make it look ok. i dunno how to explain. but usually dey will recommend use 2 pieces.

Congrats on your completed reno! Your home looks nice and cosy...and kitchen is very cheery with that touch of yellow :)

Sorting out and organising things seems to be taking forever...longer than reno :dunno: ....I am just lazy and procrastinating

Hi klipp-klapp,

My glass backing had to be intstalled in 2 pieces. The bottom is a long piece that is rectangular in shape and extends from one end of the solid surface top to the other. The other piece is a smaller one which goes directly behind the hood. If you look closely at mine, there is a gap too but it is not obvious from a distance because black silicon was used to fill up the gaps.

Anyway, you should get your ID to change the glass since it's the wrong colour.
