mmycheng 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 3 words sort of sum up my feelings right now... Excitment-----cos i can 'smell' the end of my reno process Anxiety-----furniture will come in this sat and I'm not sure if I made the right choices and whether it will all blend in nicely Frustration-----my wallpaper seems to be ill-fated, first the original design had to be changed to fit the feature wall dimensions and second, the newly ordered batch fell short of the length required length and more had to be ordered, so it's back to the waiting game, again! Progress today has been good so I have more pics to share. My study table flip-up cabinet with new piston hinge installed so that it stays up when opened. MBR toilet carpentry done! WIW accessories drawer WIW Open shelves for me to put t-shirts, shorts, towels, bags etc WIW area for hanging clothes (rods for shirt and pants and rod for dresses) MBR suspended bedside cabinets
pinkpetter 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2008 Wah suspended bedside cabinets! I love the colour of the WIW and it's so BIG! Seeing how well the house has been put together I'm sure the furniture will blend in nicely la!
mmycheng 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) I hope so...will take pics and show you all when all the stuff all arrive by this weekend. pinkpetter 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2008 Wah time for pro cleaning liao. So fast hor.
mmycheng 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2008 wow. 1.2k? how big is the table? i was quoted 960 for 8ft study table. still considering whether to do it. Hmm...maybe my price of $90 per ft is outdated liao... got another friend doing reno now and his price was closer to $110-120...all thanks to inflation. My reno contract was signed in July this year. Also, the price depends a lot on the material you use. That same friend is paying close to 1K for a 4 ft vanity cupboard and solid surface top for his toilet sink cos he needs to use more water resistant materials. How's your ID search coming along? Wah time for pro cleaning liao. So fast hor. Me lazy...hb is not the cleaning type either so we decided getting the pros in would be best option. I engaged A-cube microsystems, they are sending in 2 cleaners for 6 hours. Will cost me $269 nett.

mmycheng 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 TODAY HAS BEEN A LOOOOOOONG DAY....AND I AM SOOOOOOOO TIRED! I basically spent the morning doing some basic cleaning (sweeping, mopping, wiping) and then the rest was spent waiting for furniture to arrive... the latter was the one which really sapped my energy... the waiting and waiting... I advise those out there who have not gone through this process to think twice about trying to receive all your furniture in 1 day...unless you are very patient... Let me chronical my day... 1000am: Set out to NTUC and neighbourhood hardware store to buy cleaning agents. 1100am: Started cleaning...got hot and sweaty but spirits still kept high by the excitment of the coming furniture. 1130am: First piece arrived! My dining set from Furniture Club. 1145am: Continued cleaning, hb also helped... 1pm: Went for lunch...had no appetite tho...a bit tired by now... 1.45pm: 2nd item arrived. Mattress from Sealy. Meanwhile...the waiting continued...luckily I brought a book along to read. 3pm: 3rd item arrived. Washing machine from Brandt. Waited some more... 5pm: 4th item arrived. F&P fridge. 6.10pm: Bed arrived... my hb attended to them...i was stoned by then... Hunger pangs set in and so we had our very first dinner in our new home.... 7.20pm: Final item has finally come....our sofa...even my dog needed a comfy rest after all that waiting! Ok...time for me to faint now...hahaha
klipp-klapp 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2008 Thanks everyone for your praises. Am more than happy to share my reno progess cos I also learn a lot from looking at others' blogs. Generally, I feel that the carpentry works are of a high standard. Sadly, I wish I could say the same for the electrical works... slightly disappointed with my ID's electrician cos I think he and/or his workers take little pride in fixing the electrical things... Ya .. it is indeed very disappointing when contractors take little pride in making sure that workmanship is up to standard ..... that's why I am feeling a bit blue with my reno progress liaoz .... But good for you ... saw that most of ur funiture are in .. and your place looks great! Simple Human Trash Bins We saw this at Home-Fix compasspoint today and it's selling for over 200 ... My hubby was fascinated by it .. keep on "open & close" the bin ... so funnie...

Haha...hb and I did exactly the same thing... it was lots of fun watching it open and close...does sound silly now that I talk about it...haha nice sofa set....the mbr sink in black hw much and where did u get it from? Hi bubble, I got it from *** Gallery at Balestier...I don't know the exact price cos I bought a couple of things and got a bundle price...but I think it's around the mid $200s before discount. Hb and I are going to look for chairs for the study room...our dream chair too pricey for us to buy right now so it will have to wait until much later. In the meantime, a budget-priced chair will do. Any suggestions anyone? Edited November 9, 2008 by mmycheng

pinkpetter 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 did u go shop at IKEA for office chairs.. they are more affordable and some come with nice design.. though not sure how long it can last I agree I like the office chairs from there also. I guess if buying budget kind then cannot ask for very durable ones right? But I'm wondering if they are good for the back actually. haiz that's the impt part. mmycheng 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 Yup, IKEA is one of the places we are planning to look for chairs. Was wondering if anyone knows of any local shops that may be selling office chairs ar reasonable prices too.
