klipp-klapp 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2008 Hi, Would like to check if it is okay to allow the contractor to shorten the chimney below the recommended min. length specified in the catalog. My ID mentioned that since we bought the hood already, he can get the contractor to cut it. Will it have major impact on the performance of the suction? Now trying to decide whether to try to sell off the chimney hood instead .... because the kitchen space is also very tight. Will appreciate if anyone can share their experience. Thanks. latitude 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2008 (edited) should u shorten the chimney to below the min recommended length, if it doesnt work as intended (ie. sunction weak or whatever) u cannot go back to the manufacturer and complain lor.. they will say u never follow the guidelines.. I did not think of the warranty issue. One thing to take note is not cut off the ventilation vents. if not the air wouldn't be able to escape after being suck in...And it will defeats the purpose of the hood and might as well don't install.. wreckit 1 Report post Posted September 15, 2008 It is alright to shorten the funnels slightly. Check and make sure there is enough clearance for the buttefly valves on the utlet to open up. And yes, make sure the the side outlets are not blocked. If you have not choice but to block the outlets, then you need to open the top part of the cabinet to allow exhaust....
