Re-wiring Of Hdb Flat After 10 Years - Necessary?

Recommended Posts

I have been advised by my contractor to re-wire my HDB flat which is more than 10 yrs old now. I have heard others mentioning this too.

You guys have any take on this?

Thanks in advance!

Strictly speaking, 10 yrs old flat need not do rewiring. However, if you plan to stay there for at least another 10-20 yrs & do not want to go thru the hassle of doing rewire work (it means dusty, messy, shifting, no electricity etc) couple of yrs down the road, then you can consider doing it now.

if you are comfortable with all the placement of the switches/sockets and didnt intend to change them.

it's ok not to re-wire.

but if you are going to move some switches and will be staying for a long time in this house, then re-wire.

Hi everybody,

I just intend to renovate my kitchen flooring and cabinets but due to the change of cabinets shaped and probably hob / oven shifting position, do I need to rewire the whole house or the contractor can just add switches / sockets for the kitchen ?
