Misc100 2 Report post Posted August 24, 2008 I have been advised by my contractor to re-wire my HDB flat which is more than 10 yrs old now. I have heard others mentioning this too. You guys have any take on this? Thanks in advance!
yokine9a 1 Report post Posted August 25, 2008 Strictly speaking, 10 yrs old flat need not do rewiring. However, if you plan to stay there for at least another 10-20 yrs & do not want to go thru the hassle of doing rewire work (it means dusty, messy, shifting, no electricity etc) couple of yrs down the road, then you can consider doing it now. vinvinvin 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 yea totally agreed with yokine9a. If you want to stay for 10-20yrs, rewire now by then will be troublesome.
MaCe 3 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 if you are comfortable with all the placement of the switches/sockets and didnt intend to change them. it's ok not to re-wire. but if you are going to move some switches and will be staying for a long time in this house, then re-wire. ryan13680 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2008 I hear that wires can last indefinitely. No need to rewire. 10, 20 yrs down the track, do a full reno with your rewiring la.

alyplwwf 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Hi everybody, I just intend to renovate my kitchen flooring and cabinets but due to the change of cabinets shaped and probably hob / oven shifting position, do I need to rewire the whole house or the contractor can just add switches / sockets for the kitchen ?
