kenmura 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2007 Ok, not sure if I should say this in here, but wth.Basically, even though the kitchen is my wife's domain, I was the one who insisted that we buy the cuizino hood, hob and built in oven. Reason being the company which I set up once worked very closely with APS marketing in that we handled their marketing material for their products, including cuizino. I really don't want to go into much detail in here in case my identity is revealed even further but basically, after the months and months of working so closely to APS and Cuizino, I am almost certain of the brand's quality. I'm NOT saying that the other brands aren't good, but in my book, Cuizino is amazing, especially at that price. I have nothing but praise for Cuizino. On the other hand, I have nothing much good to say about their official distributor in Sg, APS. So for those expecting good customer service or good product knowledge about what they carry or even good after sales service in terms of warranty and the like, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Once again, this is based on personal experiences and wouldn't like to talk more in case I get sued for libel. !!

Kintaro 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2008 Talking about heat efficiency, I wanted to change my current Meneghetti AT-01 to the Rinnai RB-2CG as I hope to save on my gas bills.Any users out there to comment on the RB-2CG?Inner flame design Pros : Your get very high power and efficiency. So you can get your cooking done fast and save on energy bills. Many hobs in the market quote high power but what they don't tell you is the efficiency. In most of the hobs, barely 50% of the high power is transmitted to the cooking vessel. When they say 5kW, it is calibrated by the amount of the gas flowed multiplied by the calorific value of the gas. I.e. they are measuring the heat from the gas burnt, not the heat transmitted to your wok or pot. In the efficiency aspect aspect, the Rinnai flame is probably tops.Cons : Expensive because the CERAN is made by Schott of Germany, it is needed because ordinary toughened or tempered glass can handle the heat under the glass like the CERAN. Another disadvantage is the difficulty to clean the burner, but when it is dirty you can't see it (so maybe it is an advantage). Also on the low setting, you can't see the flame but don't worry, this hob is eqipped with flame failure device.I will also touch on glass vs. stainless steel tops.Stainless steel : Typically made from non-magnetic 304 stainless steel, it has strong resistance to corrosion. The material is real tough but the surface (usually hairline or brushed) is delicate and can be easily scratched. Such scratches are not repairable. You can use strong chemicals to clean the top but heavy brushing mayb cause scratches, so it is more difficult to clean. After cleaning, it is difficult to get a spotless, water mark free finish. A 3 month old stainless steel top looks nowhere like the showroom set.Glass top : This is my choice for a top because it is easy to clean. In Singapore, tempered (or toughened, it is the same) glass top needs to be tested to AG101 and SS72 standards. Glass technology has improved alot and the chances that it will shatter is so very slim. The brands that offer life time warranty hardly replace 1 or 2 pieces of the glass each year and these are usually broken during transport or installation. And when the top breaks, it does not exploded, don't worry. The breaking process is so slow, it takes about 7 minutes to complete and the fragments, small and harmless stays on the hob by the safety laminate at the back. I choose glass also because it is durable. A 5 year old glass hob that is well maintained will look 80% like a showroom set.
