Chemical Wash For Existing Homogeneous Floor Tiles

Recommended Posts

Guest our-home

We intend to keep the existing floor tiles in the living/dining area of the 8-year old unit. But the lighter/cleaner imprints of the previous owner's furniture are very noticeable - for eg. where their TV console stood, there is a rectangular, lighter-coloured area - which is not going to be the same position for our TV console.

We have to redo the kitchen and 2 bathrooms cos they're in bad condition, but is it advisable to get the contractor to do chemical washing for the existing living/dining floor tiles? Will that even out the entire floor area colour or this is not a good idea?

homo tiles being porceline, most likely u can't remove the different shade, coz it's already abosrbed into the tiles. Unless u polish, but never heard of anyone polish homo tiles de.

Thanks hihihi.

Guess we'll have to put other pieces of furniture to place on top and "cover" those areas.

actually since u already decided to redo kitchen and bath room...might as well do the living room too...the incremental cost not alot....cos u would have to pay for haulage and disposal anyway....

once u shift in...u cant do it cos it will be dirty and so much to clean and clean and pack....and u got to pay for haulage and disposal again...

think of long run....

Hi ahjane

Sigh! Actually thought about that many, many times. But now budget quite tight cos this is a 2+1 condo (91 sqm). The quotes we've been getting from contractors (not IDs) are ridiculously high. I read some forummers mention that quotes for HDB and condos will definitely be different, can't be helped. But got to try to bargain and make sure materials aren't compromised (as advised by many here).

So after calculating and thinking some more, decided to do the 2 bathrooms and kitchen only. This resale unit is 8 years old and has always been tenanted out - so you can imagine. What's more the living/dining hall tiles are like a dirty brown colour. Sigh! again
