SYTan 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2008 (edited) I am about to do my kitchen cabinets soon, but just want to ask, are cabinets above the fridge useful? I actually set provision for that when discussing with my carpenter because i went to 2 of my friends' houses and saw them did that but now thinking back, i was wondering if the cabinets are too small and too high up, does it serve any purpose? And not to mention, they might restrict the height of the fridge i might get in future as well. So can anyone who had done cabinets like that share any experience with me? Guest our-home Report post Posted August 12, 2008 So can anyone who had done cabinets like that share any experience with me? Hi SYTan, I agree with sinner's opinion. It'll look nicer to have the top/wall cabinets run continuously. If there aren't any cabinets above the fridge, it'll look something like what we have now:
hihihi 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2008 depends on the user. Some pple have alots of things, so needed more cabinet space. some stuff like juicer, that u only use once in a blue moon, then u'll keep it there. only thing is that it's not worth doing that portion, in money sense, coz carpentry still count that portion by per feet run basis. even though that portion is smaller. and I choose not to do that portion also to let the fridge have all the ventilation
MaCe 3 Report post Posted August 12, 2008 when fridge is spoilt and need to change new one>? can only find one with the same height?
hihihi 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2008 when fridge is spoilt and need to change new one>? can only find one with the same height? some pple do just fit, leaving less than 5cm gap between fridge and cabinet. Some pple leave quite a big gap ~15-30cm.
apa 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2008 some pple do just fit, leaving less than 5cm gap between fridge and cabinet. Some pple leave quite a big gap ~15-30cm. think as long as the gap is big enough for ventilation shld b ok. (my fridge manual recommend to leave at least 10cm space behind n on top) IMO, no harm doin extra storage space, esp if ur kitchen by itself is not too big. any extra storage could make a diff in such case. Fifi 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2008 we will not be doing cabinets above the fridge as well, in fear that in case the fridge is spoilt and we cant find exactly the same height (though there must still be some choices in the market). anyway, not much storage to be done with that limited space... LittleDevil 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2008 Not doing top cabinet above fridge as well. Not worth the money and anyway it is quite hard to reach. But I guess if space is a constraint, I will make use of every possible corner to create storage space.
Yang Guo 7 Report post Posted August 16, 2008 cabinets above fridge is not useful but it gives your whole kitchen cabinet a continuous flush agree with sinner too for my kitchen, if i do or dont do the cabinet, the price is the same. So i rather do it to maximise whatever space i have in the kitchen.
