How To Protect Parquet Floor In Study Room

Recommended Posts

I am using an Alve storage bench in my study room for sitting.

Sliding into the comp table for neat storage and pulling out when

computing.

http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/224866

It has four small wheels for moving.

However, I noticed the wheels are damaging to the parquet.

Any feasible way to protect the parquet underneath it?

I read that Ikea's floor protector is more for carpet and not really

useful for parquet. I have consider carpet but don't really like its

high maintenability and capacity to trap dust.

well if you really want to maintain the integrity of the parquet floor, don't use anything with wheels on it. maybe you can change the wheels to sliders?

You can consider getting a rubber protection mat to place underneath the bench. My bf bought one for my study table & chair. Can find them from DIY or home-fix stores, even some $2 shops sell them too.

does it feel good to touch?

The beauty of parquet as compared to granite, ceramic tiles or other tiles available is the great feel of wood on skin.

It is made of rubber. The same feel when you touch rubber bands :D

Of course with this rubber mat, you won't get to admire the beauty of parquet cos it is being covered by the mat.

So, which one do you want? An ugly parquet floor with scratches on it, or a rubber mat with beautiful parquet floor below?

don't ever use the IKEA floor protector. It will damage your parquet flooring.

Consider getting a yoga mat to lay it underneath your chair. That is what I intend to do.

boon lay stationary has those special mats to protect parquet floors, with diff sizes. You may want to try to call them.

Is Boon Lay stationary somewhere near Boon Lay MRT?

I don't mind a physical look.

Also, any idea if there are natural fibre yoga mat sold in Singapore?

I understand most yoga mat are plastic to absord sweat, and may not welcome

wheels to be rolled on. But to balance between parquet beauty and ease of

operation, i will choose the former :)
