Now consider to buy a condo, for a better school for kids. but heard that we cant only buy condo after 5 years in HDB. is it true ? yup, need to wait for 5 years. mike 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2008 thanks to all. from the hdb site TYM mentioned, it states "Flat owners and occupiers who have fulfilled the required occupation periods for their flats do not need to seek HDB's prior written consent before acquiring the private properties.". did anyone get experience to get hdb's approval to buy private pt within that 5 years time ? GMC 12 Report post Posted July 20, 2008 Anybody knows if fully paid up within 5 years, must still fulfill the minimum occupation period? sure have to. unless you cook up cock and bull story that you need to sell the flat within 5yrs due to blah blah reasons. from my personal experience, it works. but cannot teach you how I did it. thanks to all. from the hdb site TYM mentioned, it states "Flat owners and occupiers who have fulfilled the required occupation periods for their flats do not need to seek HDB's prior written consent before acquiring the private properties.". did anyone get experience to get hdb's approval to buy private pt within that 5 years time ? Friend's property has a potential buyer who still has about 6 months into maturity of the occupancy period. buyer went to HDB ask for approval, HDB agree to allow buyer to exercise OTP, BUT completion has to be after the 6th month. Misc100 2 Report post Posted August 27, 2008 Found this in HDB website http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10206p.nsf/WP...es?OpenDocument This is interesting. From the same site. found this: "Must stay in the HDB after acquiring the private property." "For Flats bought from the open market without CPF Housing Grant There is no need to satisfy the required occupation period for the flat before acquiring the private property. However, the flat owners must continue to stay in the HDB flat after acquiring the private property. Exception is made for those who have obtained prior approval from HDB to sublet the flat under the Subletting of Flat policy. "
