Interest Check: Eco-eye Realtime Electricity Monitors

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just doing a interest check to see if anyone interested in this device. It is a wireless monitor that take realtime reading of your electricity consumption 24x7. You just need to clip the transmitter to your Mains Live wire that it. There are 2 version, Eco-eye Elite and Eco-eye Mini. Elite is with a larger display that's all. I am already using the Mini. Find it quite useful so want to see if friends here are interested too...I am using this to check against my bills from SP...defintely made me more aware of my consumption and what are those appliances that are sucking up power...feel free to post qns...once there are interest, I will organise a spree.

Listed are the features from the website:

Eco-eye comprises of a wireless sender unit which attaches to any live cable (usually at the meter) and a display unit which can be wall-mounted, freestanding or portable.

The large display unit is easier to read than those on similar products.

Cost of supply can be analysed by hour, day, week, month or year.

Functionality and programmability has been designed with ease of use and simplicity in mind.

Display options: Kilowatts, £s, (€ and $ versions are software options), CO2 emissions - shown by either hour, day, week, month or year – also has a 24 hour clock display option.

Memory function - has the ability to check historical usage & CO2 emissions on a week-by-week basis and cost comparisons by the hour, day, week, and month.

Real-time readings update every 4 seconds or 30 seconds (power save option)

Uses 4 AA batteries or can be used with the optional AC power adapters – energy efficient; uses negligible electricity to operate. Estimated battery life is around six months.

What's the price point and how do we do the installation? Tks :) there is also E-Track which does about the same.

E-Track Link

Interesting that we have one made in SGP.

I think there are a few differences:

Eco-eye monitor is wireless. I paid ~S$140 including shipping. Just need to clip the transmitter to the LIVE mains.

The ETRACK however does have the feature to measure individual applicances which is a add-on for Eco-eye.

Eco-eye displays historical HR, Day,Week, Mth and Year.

I do not know how much is ETRACK. Looks good though.

This is very interesting. I'm looking at almost the same thing. http://www.theenergydetective.com/store/teds/ted-1001.html

My purpose is to monitor the power usage of my tenant at the DP point. Can the 2 devices mentioned do that?
