even though many ppl hv wall tiles for their kitchens, not many ppl i know actually clean them because they don't really get dirty?

if simple cooking is still ok...

but if u do a bit of frying over the years, the tiles is going to get sticky even though u have hob(if u dun clean)....

my present house, old style, super long kitchen.

cooking side, only middle section had wall tiles (the place u had the glass). Non-cooking side and remaining places are all paint, no tiles. I find it alright. Save cost, and never had to wipe them.

Tile or no tile, if you cook often but don't clean up after cooking, it will be oily also.

Whether what other people usually do, that is besides the point.

Hi,

My kitchen is partially tiled...I tiled the space between the cabinet and surface top only, the rest is paint. So far so good :)

Actually I dunno why must the whole kitchen be tiled like a toilet, it is not like you are going to splash your walls with oil...:P

I think it sounds great!

a fren of mine did it, the wall area in front of the hob and sink is shielded with tempered glass, no tiles at all... it looks great at her place, no fotos tho... no idea of any long term maintenance issues either.

for me, i am more traditional and my kitchen is small anyway so went for full tiling. Tiling is probably more 'fashion-proof' but definitely worth a try if you want a different look.
