City Gas Bundle Deal

Recommended Posts

hi all,

Just came across this promo on city gas products.

http://www.citygas.com.sg/index.php?option...2&Itemid=60

Just want to know a few thing pertaining to gas-run appliances

1) IS it true that they can save cost in terms of electic - run ones?

2) Will it be difficult to change / repair the parts if broken down?

3) Do I need to change the battery in the water heater very often?

4) How is the quality of the Gas dryer as compared to normal ones??

5) Are products from city gas durable? ( As in it can they last for at least 10 years?)

6) Pros and Cons of these 2 products

Hope to seek valuable advices from those who had been using gas dryers and city gas heater.

Many Thanks

Glenn

Can't answer most of your question too, but I can tell you the reason my wife did not want the gas heater even though it was free due to a promotion and the guy had brought it along for the appointment for the gas connection:

The Gas heater cannot be installed inside your bath room at the heater points provided by HDB. Due to safety reasons, it cannot be installed in enclosed areas, it can only be installed indoor inside the kitchen or the yard. You have have to get your plumber to run the hot and cold water pipes from where ever you installed it back into your toilet. So eventually you will have 3 pipes running to the heater, Cold water inlet, Hot water inlet and Gas inlet.

You can cover it up with a cabinet but there are some specifications. I can't remember it, but I think the bottom cannot be covered and 1 of the wall/door must be fully louvre. But better check cause I cannot remember if the top need to be open as well and how many of the cabinet walls must be louvre...

i hope you gus realise more people get fried from using in shower type electrical heaters, I would NEVER go near those things.... esp with the quality of electricians in this country no thank you. I have a gas water heater in the sort of service balcony area we createda nd its fine.. you see the hot water and cold water pipes running but.... you have to run at least one anyways right to serve the washroom so what diff is it gonna make...the gas pipe is already there anyways they extend it before cabinates are laid righ to the end of the kitchen which is now the service balcony area near the chute and install it there.... this is my mother's 4rm ng and that same heater has been in use since 2001. Probably time for a new one, works fine but I realised that the water volume knob on the heater doesnt turn, the city gas people are gonna come check. But it was free If i remember right, coz they are encouraging people to use gas, and the recently acquired gas dryer works great may not match was well to the washer as the previous dryer they came as stackable set but the dryer died a LONG time ago and the washer is dying soon enough, so we wall mounted the dryer and proba gonna get a lg steam washer/dryer which has a what 8 or more kg capacity depending on the functions, so if you have a huge load the drying functions only on 5 or 6 kg load max what u gonna do with the rest of your laundry, dump it into the gas dryer.... see..... it all makes sense LOL

Hi,

Yes you are right it has to be installed outside toilet. Which I planned to do despite any storage heater I chose in the end.

I find that it's better to install in service balcony at one of the corner which easily unnoticable..

The price for the Citygas is right and it's Rinnai brand. As for the hot water piping, one may need to check with the contractor on how to run it and costing as Citygas only do the gas piping portion if I am not wrong.

Heard that Ariston is another popular brand for water heater storage. Not sure about the pricing though.

Anyone have more sharing on the experience in using Rinnai or Ariston brand?

Will need to connect the hot water pipe for the 2 toilets and the kitchen.

I have yet to place any order yet..

Thanks!
