Country Cottage

Kitchen-1.jpg

This is my kitchen. Still messy and things are not nicely displayed yet.

When the ID told me his idea before the renovation, I had high hopes on this kitchen. I am really happy that he could deliver what he promised me. :D

Really love the look and feel of your open concept kitchen. This is how I always wanted my kitchen to be, unfortunately we cook and bake very often, so not very practical. End up the living room becomes greasy and smoky. :(

Hi Countrylover,

Actually I cook everyday as well. Of course, I don't do heavy cooking but just simple frying. I bake often too. My present hood is not bad as it is able to suck up all the smoke during cooking. So far, I am not facing such problems. :sport-smiley-018:

- this is fridge area. I bought this Hitachi Fridge not because it is better or whatever. I actually wanted to buy LG fridge but the size is too big. My ID gave me the size to buy and I had only one choice.

This fridge is not bad. Quite spacious and it has an automatic ice maker. :good: Amazing technology. Just pour water in the ice making container and you can find the ice in the freezer compartment. Wow!!!

Windowinthekitchen.jpg

- this is a window my ID created in the kitchen. Quite cool I think. When I open it, I can see the passage way. :)

- passage way to my bedrooms

Pictures.jpg

- pictures I bought at country furniture in IFC.

There are many beautiful country furnitures at IFC. I saw a dressing table going for 900+ and consulted my ID about it. He said if I put that in the master bedroom, I will have no place to move around. So, he offered to provide me a very simple looking one. Really a very simple one indeed. But I am happy with it as it is more practical. :)

Can I check how much you bought those pictures? I saw them too at IFC last weekend but didn't ask the price cos I know if I did, I will end up buying! :deal:

Btw, I bought a bedroom set consisting of bedframe, dressing table, stool and bedside table from Country Furnitures for $1288. Quite a good deal, I shd say! :good: Find their furnitures very nice and affordable compared to other country-style stores.

Did you buy any furniture from them?

Hi,

No. I didn't buy any furniture from them as I already have a few existing furnitures I bought from JB. I bought a dining table, queen sized bed frame, tv console, sofa, side tables and a queen mattress. I think I spent about S$2k plus. That was like 2 years back. Condition still very good.

Those 4 pictures cost me S$88. I felt the price was reasonable. If i were to buy them at ebay, I might need to pay even more because of postage. Am I right or you think you can get it cheaper elsewhere?

Hi Isasoap,

Thank you for the compliment.

I am still sourcing for cheaper country decos as my ID provided many display spaces in the kitchen and living areas. :deal:

ShabbyChicWallClock.jpg

this is the shabby chic wall clock I bought from ebay. It cost about S$34 including postage. Is it worth the price? This clock is battery operated. Still thinking where I should hang it. Any suggestions??

I can't really tell from your photos the size of the picture frames. But yes, think $88 is reasonable. Recently, I bought 2 oil paintings from ebay for abt $150, including postage. Find that a good price too, as the oil paintings would have cost at least $200 each in Singapore.

When I went down to Country style furniture, I saw that they also custom make unit nos on wooden plates. Find it quite nice also, they quoted me $50 which I find very affordable. I might wanna buy another wardrobe for the children's room and writing desk from them. The salesperson, Jeremy, suggested that I put in the bedroom set for the MBR first, to determine how much space I have for the writing table.

This is a very nice clock indeed! :good: This might be good for your bedroom. For your living, can consider buying another shabby-style pendulum clock or mini grandfather clock. Adds to that grandeur in your living! ;) I'm also looking for one for my MBR.

Do you have a pic of your curtains? I'm trying to avoid doing custom-made ones but went to a few places, can't find suitable ones, unless I buy from ebay. Problem is, my living and MBR have L-shaped windows, so really difficult to buy ready-made ones. :(

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestion about the clock. Yah, I have also thought of putting it in one of the rooms.

I custom made all my curtains. I have curtains in the 3 rooms and wooden blind for my living.

livingroom.jpg

- can you see those ugly wires hanging around. I am trying to figure out how to hide them without a TV console.

:dunno: Asked my ID to build a fireplace there and he said it will not look good. ;)

woodenblind.jpg

- I bought the cat calender in Bintan. The clock was from HK disneyland. The display on top of the wine rack is also from Bintan

The curtains and blinds were done by a company in JB. They come over to Singapore very often. I will not say that they are cheap but I like the materials they have. Price is reasonable I guess. I spent abt S$1400.

I got 2 other quotes from companies in Singapore and their quote was like S$1600. They do not have that many pattern to choose from as well. As for the curtains in the rooms, I did not take any pic of them. Will do so and show it to you. I chose only 1 type of pattern but in diff color shade.

Other display items I have in the house.

picinlivingroom.jpg

- bought at IFC

wallpic.jpg

- a gift

catwithwelcomesign.jpg

- bought this in bintan. S$7

Hi Banzai,

i think you can use the fireplace to hide the wires for the TV..

maybe u can place the tV on the mantel? and then the wires are hidden behind the fireplace.

to access to the wire.. you can build a backing that allows u to open and close...

Alternatively, get a feature wall done. That can also hide the wires.

Do you have contact of the company in JB? They have a company registered here too? Yes pls, appreciate if you could take some pics of your curtains to show me. Thanks.
