Should All Id Have A Standard Charge List For Electrical & Plumping Works?

Recommended Posts

Hi, should all ID have a standard charge list for the above work? Almost all the ID I have seen will have something like this...

To supply lighting points @ $38 per point

To supply labour to install light fittings @ $12 per light

To supply & install 13AMP single socket @ $65 per point

To supply & install 13AMP double socket @ $75 per point

To shift existing telephone pt @ $50 per point

To shift existing tv/scv point @ $90 per point

I am perfectly ok with it. However, one of the ID firm which we have short-listed as among the preferred, quoted me a lump sum like few thousands for each. When we asked for a list as such, they reply us as "The plumbing & electrical quotation is based on the estimated average standard 4RM flat. We will only provide the breakdown when my plumber and electrician visit your new house."

How much truth is it to this? I feel a little uncomfortable hearing this.

Please feel free to comments...

hi there...

for plumbling, i believe there should be a fixed lump sum quotation. As for electricity work, they would certainly have per point quotation, however, the total sum for electricity work will need to determine on site. If they include a lump sum figure in the quotation, tink there may be some hidden costs later which may reveal during renovation works which is very subjective, as there is no indication of how many points, etc.

for my case, electricity works is on site quotation, and direct from electrician thru intro of the ID firm, which oso give us flexibility to decide if we wan our own electrician or the one they intro. And of cos, the rates will be cheaper than the ID firm quotation.

fyi (or for your bargaining), my side quote is :

To supply lighting points @ $35 per point

To supply labour to install light fittings @ $7 per light (initiali he wan $10, but as the lighting shop offer $7 installation, so i asked if he wan the job or give to the shop)

To supply & install 13AMP single socket @ $45 per point

To supply & install 13AMP double socket @ $55 per point
