"Solid surface" contents = Resin (chemical) + Harderner (chemical)

Resin = Acrylic n chemical contents

Produce Method same like making jelly...

whereby resin + colouring is the material, Harderner is the "Fire"

to boil n harden the resin... can be shaped into any kind depends

on the template...

Acrylic contents in Resin is to make the product shines, looks more glossy n elegant...

Its harder compare to common resin, therefore can withstand scratches better...

*All "solid suface" is not scratch proofed...

Pricing for raw acrylic is more EX then common resins...

Therefore "solid surface" with more acrylic % will derived high cost price...

Touch ups can be done with professional skilled workers despite of any material...

So long can get the same colour(resin from the manufacturer), joinings can be

done perfectly...

Pricing for local market = *material cost + *labour cost + company's overhead expenses

*Material Cost = raw resin + acrylic % + manufacturer's origin + shipment to SG

*Labour Cost = skilled or unskilled workers? For cutting n joining skills in local company

*Company base = Advertising + salesman + office rental fees + many many more...

This is the chart for the pricing of ur "solid surface".....

instead of using solid surface why don't use the granite as the top....as granite looks more elegance and much stronger than solid surface in term of strach resistance....for long term, it is worth to switch to granite ..however if you guys still prefer using solid surface, can drop me for the lists of solid surface suppliers...but bear in mind .....look for the reasonable and good quality one....it's much more cheaper if you get from the supplier and they also do with the installation as welll

i think it depends on your overall design. for darker color, granite could be a better option, but for pale color scheme, solid surface actually gives you better overall maintenance and outlook, scratch is almost invisible for example those volcano series from Lucky Goldstar (not sure about year 2008 models).

If you have a crack, you may need to change the whole granite or seal it up with cements (ugly right?) but for solid surface, you just need to seal it up with the left over solid surface (but not all would give you extra for such purpose).

if have budget, can consider quartz top too

combines the advantages of granite and solid surfaces without the disadvantages of either :good: :good:

btw, don't think it's so easy to crack a granite top

so far the worse i've done to my top is jump on it :P

Much more ex than solid surface. Almost zero maintenance compare to solid surface.

not much more lah

LG brand quartz top should be around $140pfr (when i asked last year)

silestone brand quartz top is more expensive, between $160 and $190pfr

imagine a solid surface that is harder than granite

that's quartz top for you :deal:

What's a good thickness to go for Solid Surface? 2" 3" 4" ? :)

solid surface content - worktop panel 12mm

- front drop (means worktop profiles : 40-50mm
