jpcc 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Just went to Jln Besar shops and notices there are two sizes of trash bin. Cost is around $90. Any idea if there are different sizes, and how to take measurement? (My flat is 20 years old) Installation, is it a big hassle?
yokine9a 1 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 For old flats, most probably you are using those bigger one. To be sure, measurement your own trash bin. Not just the size of the bin but also the size of the hole behind the bin. Suggest you get your reno contractor to install the bin for you. Not quite a simple work. My flat is 30 yrs old and I am using those bigger one, however, my contractor bought a slightly smaller bin for me during reno. What he did was to use cement and silicon to seize up the surrounding area to fit the new bin.

I have taken the measurement and i am now confident with the measurement and the shopping. However, I am not so sure over the installer. I checked with taxi driver and he advised to drill hole during installation (yeah, have to rely on hearsay, anywhere i can get hold of ... ) Any recommended installer ? yokine9a 1 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Why drill hole? What my contractor did was, hack off the old bin, smoothen the wall/tiles with cement for damages made during hacking, fit in the new bin, apply silicon on the surrounding area between your new bin and the wall. This is provided that your new bin can fit into the hole nicely, else more work is needed. Eg. customised bricks or cements to fill up the gap. Any contractor can do the job but if you can’t find any, try to call Ho Bee @ 67885841. Tell Mrs Quek that you were introduced by a friend from Toa Payoh. I live in Blk 169 and they did the reno for my flat recently.
