Hi any brands to recommend?

Are you referring to the type they use at retail shops? My mum has been using Novita and she is full of praise for it. It works very well and in fact, we no longer use an iron at home :D Most of the major department stores as well as electronic stores (Courts, Harvey Norman, etc) carry it.

I also hear from my mum that if you go direct to their factory at Tagore Lane, can get additional 5% off :good:

I have a garment steamer. I don't use it to iron men's shirts because u can never achieve the same effect with a conventional steam iron. I only use to iron my workwear, consisting mostly of knit tops....it's good for ironing t-shirts too...but not for shirts and pants cos it won't achieve that really straight effect..

I use a very old "Princess" steamer bought many years ago.

Not very good with handling conventional irons, I was 'toasting' shirts, and leaving black shiny marks on skirts and my dresses were too expensive for me to burn.... thought I'll try a basic model.

it's good with light materials like Chiffon, silk, cotton but not fantastic with denim. I used it to steam my hubby's work clothes but not all of the shirts turn out well. The G2000 Black Label type of shirts ( a slightly softer/shiny material) usually 'respond' well. but some of his other tailored shirts could have been better.

It takes alot of practise to perfect it, I think it's fuss free and easy to use.

there's a brand that has a metal plate at the handle of the steamer, it's pretty heavy if you're steaming alot of clothes together, may not be a good idea.

Also, I like to use it to steam my sofa, carpet etc

If u're not fussy, Princess is a good basic model. no rusting yet although I use it everyday for 1-2 pieces each time.

my sis uses a steam iron by the brand name of Laurastar. It cuts down iron by half time and the clothes are pressed really well and straight. One temperature for all types of material. i am impressed by the demo (at tangs and harbourfront centre-not vivo)...but abit pricey for me.

Hi all, just a silly qtn from me :P

Should I air-dry my clothings before I steam them? Or the moment I take them out from the washer, I can start using the steamer on them?

Sounds more productive & time-saving if I don't need to air-dry them before hand... anyway they will still get wet by the steamer... but don't know if this is the best way

Thank you :D
