Tile Shop Normally Will Give Walk-in Customer Discount?

As we all know, displayed price tags are all already marked up.

Say we visit tiles shop e.g Hafxxx, for walk-in customer will the tiles seller give a discount knowing that you are home-owners and not contractor?

from my limited understanding, if a contractor walk in, they get more disc than walk in customers. reason: contractors give more repeat business to the tile shop. for walk-in customers, u just buy from them once and that's it! next time they see you again is propbably 20years later.

tile shops usually give discount off the display price

however, the discount is given to the buyer i.e. the person making the purchase

so if you are engaging a contractor to buy and lay

you will be quoted the display price

however, if you are buying the tile yourself and getting someone to lay

you should be able to get a 20% discount

i've seen a guy got 20% off the display price for buying ONE piece of tile

that was to replace a damaged one at home

as for myself, i got mine from hup kiong

and managed to get more than 25% discount after some hard bargaining

- Jalan Bersa (bugis walk down)

- Geylang (between Paya Lebar and Aljunied)

- Balestiar rd
