Lcd Tv. Better To Wall Mount Or Not?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Will like to know if there is a difference between wall mounting and putting the display panel on the console.

I am intending to have a feature wall for my tv and my concerns are as per below.

1) For wall mount, is it very hard to reach the cable points behind the tv?

2) Is the space behind the wall mount tv enough for the heat to be effectively disperse?

3) If I need to send my TV for repair, will it be very hard to take the tv down?

4) If Ii were to change my dvd players etc, will it be very hard to reach for the points behind the tv?

If I do not wall mount, I assume there is no point to spend money on a feature wall right?

Thanks in advance :)

I did wall mount on my feature wall.

to ans your question:

1) it is not hard, ur contactor will drill a circle hole for u to put the cables.

2) not sure, mine is plasma TV, can get quite hot after hours of watching but my TV is next to window, I open the window when watching TV to dissipate the heat.

3) not hard, the mount on is actually a clip on to a metal bar.

4) not hard not got to go through the hole, purpose is to hide the untidy cables.

:)

Let's say if I have a were to change my tv. will the bracket still be reuseable?

I think you can still reuse but depending on the size of the TV you are replacing too. The good thing about having wall mount TV is the neat and tidy look. The pain is when one of the cables is spoilt, you need to have to bring down the TV to change the cable etc.

i think you'r right by saying this. but even though without feature wall, we can use wall mount as well.

i believe when the manufacturer design the tv, they have already consider all these things la :D

the socket can be reached or not, the tv can be take off, etc...

don't have to worry about it, and to me ... wall mount is more attractive rather than putting on console :notti:

Ans:

1) to reach the cable points behind,u need to unmount..(the only way)

2) yup there is plenty of space..

3) quite easy to take down, but require alot of strength..

4) need to unmount and plug in the dvd cables and mount again

my opinion..yup, if u want wall mount, its better to have a feature wall, cos without feature wall, the wires will be dangling there, not so nice.

so..the choice of

1) wall mount without feature wall, wires dangling

vs

2) place tv on tv console, no wires dangling.

most people will rather place tv on console, more convenient

conclusion:

- If wall mount, advisable to have feature wall.

- If wall mount without feature wall, it will be more cost saving to place tv on tv console and looks neater

actually wall mount not necessarily mean difficult to add/remove cables

get those wall mount that has a extendable arm

no just you can rotate the tv to the angle you want, it also makes access the cable points much easier

only downside is the price

the one i'm eyeing is $390, for my 37" lcd tv :bleah:

Hi Apple

Am currently looking for a tv mount which can swivel 360 degrees

saw one in a mag with a metal pole which i think will hide the wires

does this shop happen to have this kind?

saw that they have some ceiling mounts but not sure of the price

we wall mounted at first, using the brackets that were given. but was quite a hassle to reach the ports at the bag to plug in PC etc. so when we moved, just decided to use the stand instead. works like a dream, and looks quite good also lah.

if wall mount, best to hv feature wall then can hide the cables. if not, i find that it defeats the purpose..

hi, according to my contractor

there was one home owner who modified the ikea pole (from the pole system) to hang his lcd

but size cannot be too big

i've not gone down to the shop yet

but can just call up and ask about the price

that's what i did and she was kind enough to advise that the one i like cannot support my lcd as well as the other version ($40 more) :yamseng:

Got feature wall? Do planning and wall mount it.

Planning as in what else you need to connect to your tv and buy all cables and connect it before you wall mount.

No feature wall, do stand la.

Personally, I find wall mount looks the best for those tv above 46". :D

42" still acceptable to use stand.
