simonoei 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2008 Hi all, There is some diff wood for parquet, example teak and normal wood. the price is diff between this two. then how i know that i get the correct teak instead normal wood ? Thanks for any reply Firstly, you must know what you want to buy. If you select SOLID WOOD FLOORING, then there are many species available in the market. Teak is mainly used in the market is because it is well-known to be durable and expensive species. it is mainly yellow to brown in color and have wood grains of black to yellow lines. There are other species like tasmanian oak, american white oak for white color. Jarrah or merbau for red species wood. or indian rosewood, walnut for black to dark brown color. so you have to know what wood you want. then, you select the size. parquet is usually 12mm x 50mm in thickness and width. some comes in one length, some comes in various length. the wood parquet basically means wood flooring. it does not means what wood. Teak is the safest bet as it is against termite and against sea-water and water. it has been proven through history of 100 years that it will not rot or decay. it is not too hard nor too soft and its color can matched with most design. other species you have to becareful. especially white wood like oak, maple and ash. they are not termite resistance and they may change color in times. my suggestion is that you stick to teak and i guarantee you will not regret.
