frederick_chia 1 Report post Posted October 27, 2008 One of the reason y the kitchen floor and living floor cannot be aligned is bcoz water will flow into living room when we washed kitchen floor. If all can remember, old flats always have kerb between kitchen and living room (kitchen is always one step lower). This help when washing the floor at the kitchen and living room. Dirty water will flow back to kitchen. We modern people dun like this style anymore. High chance we will not be washing the kitchen floor like wat our mothers do last time during festive seasons. At most we juz mop it. However, the tiling still has to be done in this way.. But currently, it's the opposite. The kitchen will be higher than the living room. Hi, do you mean to say you constructed a shallow kerb between" the dining area & the kitchen, ie, something like our walkway to the toilet? My kerb between kitchen and dining only 2 tiles thickness height, covered with the same colour tile as my dining.(actually I use this dining area as part of living and put my dining table infront of the main door with a divider to separate dining and entrance area.) My kerb is only 1 tile thick from the kitchen and 2 tiles thick from the dining area. Shld be the same height as yours (But I'm using my kitchen floor matt tiles). I had my System 1 for my living room installed today. But it's so difficult for the trunking...cos it's beams and pillars everywhere & cannot drill. Even the aircon guy also quite headache to do the trunking. I wonder when my systerm 3 arrives, it will be more tedious as the "best" spots are taken up by my System 1 liao. As a result, I have to forgo my false ceiling for the bedroom passageway. Sighed..... I must go check my tiles le... Ask your tiler to do a mini-kerb for you bah....nicer & more practical.
