Tinted Green/blue Glass For Window = More $$ ?

Hi Guy,

Just wanna check for the glass of the window.. does it mean that if i wanna use other glass (except the clear colorless,tea color and black) i need to top up more??

Cos that wht my contractor says but if i remember not wrong i ask around a few grill installer they show me a range of glass.. and told me all same price except for floss glass.. confirm need top-up..

hm...was searching for windows and grilles contractor recently....only powder coated grilles r more expensive...dun think the color of the glass matters....

Diff biz got different cost structure.

Some colours are more popular, so biz tend to order more and benefit from economies of scale.

Then when come to quotation time, they offer a lower quote based on what they may already have in stock.

Now.. later when owner ask to change colour, the contractor find that he dun have that material in stock, so need to make special order to get the new colour. Even though the glass colour may be the same cost, it still means a special order. So.. this may explain why sometimes change of design may result in top ups.

For example powder coating... there are only a few popular colours.. if choose the popular colour.. then can just join the Q. If ask for special colour.. the factory need to stop the production.. clean the machine of old colour..mix new colour.. then coat the product. Paint all same price.. but it's the effort required to adapt to special request that is really troublesome.

Last time when I did my windows with slightly greenish colour glass instead of normal colourless glass, need to topup a little bit, but not much. Actual cost forgotten.

You can source for your own windows makers in yellowpages. Ask a few, then u'll know the cost. But usually they cannot give u a price until the actual measurement. Unless of coz you already had a rough measurement e.g 170sq metre, then compare shop to shop.

Hi all! I need help..

CAN I KNOW THE USUAL No of Years given for the WARRENTY for the windows???

I know the glass panel must be at least 0.5cm and grilles must be double-hollow and such, but i overlooked the thickness of the FRAME for the grilles as i tot it should be of acceptable standard.

when the windows were delivered to my hse, the frames are so light (a bit flimsy) i can use 3 fingers to lift them up!

is this usual??? will my glass panels be secured in those kind of frames?? wat if it falls off.. O_O

my old hse window frame is MUCH harder than my new hse one, such that, when i use a bit force, my new frame easily get a dent in it.. wat should i do??? is this normal standard???

the contractor workmanship also not good...i was recommanded by this contractor after sourcing for recommandations in this forum and 3 ppl said they got standard, but its not true for my case..

all my window corners got gaps after joining, very rough workmanship.

worse thing is the window frame so Light and thin!!

yes they are.. in fact they are the most mentioned in renotalk, thats why i used them... haiz... i dun wan to mention names yet, .. nvmd, i'll get him to retify the problem by this week and see hw.

i tot BCA approved one will definately got standard, so i trusted them :/

if u wan to do windows, i suggest u go down to their showroom and look at their quality first.. dun end up like me...
