typhoonz 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2008 (edited) I see. I guess more importantly is the quality. This contractor that I'm waiting for is also pricing higher than the ID who has still yet to show me the drawings after so dam long (almost a month). His workmanship is there and we are comfortable with him. No point choosing a cheaper one then later cry over it... BunBun 5 Report post Posted August 15, 2008 SF, Im not too sure how I can help out with your reno quote since I didn't do much for my current place. But you can outsource some of the things out to others who charge cheaper. This way you can save a bit but the co-ordination you got to be around to see the work done accordingly. applefreak 1 Report post Posted August 17, 2008 (edited) My quote today very sian cos very ex esp the electrical PART A - GENERAL WORK 1) HACKING AND HAULAGES - no comments as i didn't do anything like this 2) MASONRY AND TILING WORKS Living, Dining, Kitchen - how much $$psf tile can you choose? can choose $16psf spain homo tiles?. do you need a fridge / washer base? 3) Bathroom 1 ( 2nd Storey Master Bedroom ) - how much $$psf tile can you choose? 4) Bathroom 2 ( 2nd Storey Bedroom 2 ) - sounds reasonable 5) Bathroom 3 ( 3rd Storey Bedroom 3 ) - how much $$psf tile can you choose? 6) Balcony - how much $$psf tile can you choose? 7) Roof Garden - how much $$psf tile can you choose? 8) FLOOR FINISH & STAIRCASE - sounds reasonable 9) PAINTING - how much more for sealer for all internal wall? how many colours can you choose? how much more for each colour? how much more for better grade paint? 10) SHOWER SCREEN - thought show screen usually 10mm? what is the total length of the 'L' shape? better have that in B&W. 11) PLUMBING WORKS. ( conceal ) - does the quote include making good of hacked walls to conceal the pipes? as yours in a house, it's pretty difficult to comment as i don't know how long the pipes need to be. thought WC installation is much cheaper? some company offer free installation with purchase of WC. can bargain for the installation of misc fittings to be free? 12) ELECTRICAL WORKS ( conceal ) - does the quote include making good of hacked walls to conceal the wires? maybe it's more expensive because of the hacking and making good. 13) Miscellaneous - sounds reasonable as it'll be much more expensive getting new doors. general cleaning should cost that much for your floor area. PART B - CARPENTRY WORKS 1) WET KITCHEN - - not too sure what's the price like now. when i did mine about a year ago, it was $100pfr because mine are all drawers. what's the brand of the solid surface and how much topup for a better brand or another material? 2) DRY KITCHEN - you are closing your fridge into the cabinet? that might not be advisable as the heat might be trapped. what is the measurement of the island unit? usually should be 4ft wide. if only 2ft wide, then cost should be same as kitchen cabinet at $110pfr instead of $150pfr 3) LIVING - didn't do so don't know market price ;p 4) MASTER BEDROOM - again, if workmanship is exceptionally good, then price is okay. my wardrobe was $200pfr. all full height? 5) MASTER BATHROOM - mirror expensive, can get yourself at kelantan lane for less. the rest looks reasonable 6) BEDROOM 4 - same as MBR 7) Bathroom 3 ( 3rd Storey Bedroom 3 ) - same as MBR Edited August 17, 2008 by applefreak
