David™ 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 1 to 2 % of commisions is a very high end commision based payment don't you guys think esp with no other scope required other than the introduction of buyer and seller. I mean they legaly dont even have to do paper work or source any other info for you .....right ?Considering the percentage is of the total resale price one Family upgrading from a 4 room to lets say an EA pays roughly around 10k in commision out. Not withstanding the fact that its cold hard cash. All for some adverts and introduction and relevant market know how.I read Applefreak's post just now that he/she made some time back. We should really do it on our own given that now the climate in HDB is easier paper work and more avenues for information gathering. The next time I am selling or moving I am going to do it on my own.Just finished calculating my total commisions paid out, saw the 10k plus figure and needed to share my sorrows ha ha ha so to speak. delirious_jeff 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 If you are selling the unit yourself, you may get harassed by the buyers' agent. That was what happened to my colleague when he tried to sell his HDB apartment himself. Also, you have to find a buyer who is also willing to purchase the unit without engaging the services of an agent. sepultura 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2008 2% is a lot of money for the seller. When I sell I sure as **** won't engage an agent, but make sure I have a good lawyer. You're bound to get some pressure from the buyer's agent but you simply have to deal with it, be strong enough not to break under pressure from some unscrupulous agents. If I'm selling and I encounter some agent I am not comfortable with, I will simply not proceed with the sale.
