Extra Charges On Top Of Contract!

Recommended Posts

I went with the ID to buy those stuff. Trusted him for quality assurance.

now in defects stage, 2 pages of it. Shall not comment much since they agreed to rectify.

Just have to wait. wait and wait.

Fyi, my contract was signed in Nov last year.Mid Dec started reno.

don't know where it will end. I have to stop reminding myself that it is April now.

I am just renovating a small HDB...zzz.

Let's see, the ID chose which shop to bring you to?

They probably had the mark up arrangement long ago, I bring clients to you, while I get commission when you charge $200 instead of $150 that sort of thing.

When you signed the contract, was there an estimated completion date?

Doesn't matter that you are not in a rush to move in, but they should give a reasonable date like 2 months plus minus a week or two for rectification. They can keep dragging it just because you are not in a rush to move in.

Definitely there will be some price adjustments one, mainly from electric wiring and running of wires. But also depends on ur ID, if he wanna chop u or not. For mine, we had a tok on wat works on the quotation is fixed, and wats needs to depend based on actual work that day.

HOWEVER, make ur ID quote u on the max, meaning lets say u gotta do this job, ask him based on ur floor plan n the "worse case", wat will be the price... SO at least u got an understanding that counting on a higher side, the price also wont be more than this, and if cheaper then u get a refund. N in this case, if the price is too high for u, then u can think of alternative ways to do it, or if u still wanna do it.

For me, im glad i have an ID who wants to help me make $, of course i dont bargain from him too. Some things even tho more ex, i still give him the business, cuz there are some that he charge cheaper still.

So. when u get ur quote, ask wat r the thing that will potentially need cash top up.

I also some sort of gana spell while buying lights at prima lighting.

Though it is not my id fault (my id merely recoommend that light shop), we went there and I am so stuipd that I mention my id recommend me here.

And the lights did not display any price tag.

And the salesgirls told me pay in full, no deposit! That is cheating us!:sport-smiley-018:

We, just follow her advice....seem like we gana cast spell by her.

Luckily we managed to cancel all the items.

Hi Tension_z,

..... i think my hubby and i were under their "spell" and paid deposit for them. when we reached home, we "woke up" and realised our stupidity!

HI all,

wah.. the epxeriences post up is like many times worst than mine.. At least my ID bring me to the light shop with all prices tag.... Its call LICHT STUDIO... i think they are v helpful staff.... but price a bit exp... all light cost me ard 2.3k..... I think still ok for the price.. not overwhelmingly expensive... Actually my ID w nice but i think she a bit blur sometimes... must remind her wat i want a few times.. but she is quite honest kind that wont get us to buy thgs unnecessarily.

She told me the latest my house reno will complete by 5th of may.. i think they are within schedule .... now lights up already.... as for furniture... we get our own.. did not ask the ID to recommend, coz a lot of thgs is fengshui stuff....

I hope the carpentry work will be good......

Oh, when i went down to the ID firm, the director or manager came n talk to us about the price and we also confirm with him that the price under contract will include all electric installation works.. that is y when we need to add more $$ for extra electric works we felt not fair... but luckily the ID company were understanding enugh to waive the charges.... although some of the thgs are more like u wont knw beforehand until u dismantle this and that.. but i feel that charges like tat shouldnt be paid by us..

wat do we knw?? we are not professionals... u are... and i think if u fail to see the prob it cannot be our fault....hahaha based on that they agree too... so all extras waive!! :notti:

hope thgs will turn out better for those still stuck in the middle of renovation. maybe can consider the possibility of getting a contractor to continue the job and terminate the real bad one... but not sure whether can get $$ back half way through or not...

altho i'm having alot of problems with my ID for the handover of my hse, we didn't hav much problems with extra costs. He added in our contract the items which were 'Optional" then it was up to us if we wanted to do it.

Most of the other extra costs were becos we wanted to change location of basin, add shower screen etc ... so for that, I'm quite thankful.

but then again, I've yet to get my hse ready to move in...

lights I sourced myself, recommended to Citi Lights. quite nice

Bathroom accessories also sourced from afew places.

guess it's true that IDs do affect the pricing, so it's really up to us to see if we can reduce some costs by taking charge of the things ourselves.
