if ur using all 3 a/c quite often... it make economical sense to install an invertor.... u shld be able 2 breakeven in bt 2yrs time...

sys 3 = 1 outdoor to 3 indoor units...

sys 4 = 1 outdoor to 4 indoor units

as for when considering to install for ur living rm, juz make sure tt u've got e right BTU or it'll be a waste of $$$ coz ur living rm will not be cool despite on for long hours... juz my 2c tots.... :P

today's newspaper just published an article about the misunderstanding of invertor air cons.

some forummers here gave wrong explanations about invertors.

The newspaper explains from the NEA POV is that invertors are ONLY good if it is used partially, NOT when its fully used.

that means if you use all the split units (fully loaded) at the same time, the cost of electricity is the SAME as non-invertors.

It will only save electricity if you used the air cons in 1 or 2 rooms (partially) regularly.

So, we need to get our facts right.

Some forummers explained the other way, which NEA and newspaper explained that it is wrong explanation.

And also, using R22 gas is never a problem. R22 will only end around 2015. Now is only 2008. we got another 7 or 8 yrs more to go....

in reality, no one use the same air con system for 7 or 8 yrs. the chances that we will change the system.

so, its ok to use R22 now.

thkz for the info...

i tink chances of "ON"ing all a/c @ same time is quite slim, so it's more economical to get an invertor? i believe we can do our own calculation on wther a non-invertor or invertor suit ur needs... based of the specs tt hw much power is used when u on 1, 2, 3 or 4 a/cs...

anyway, if u want a turbo car, dun expect it to save fuel... :P

Hi All,

I did not read the article mentioned, but based on what's described by donut, yes it is right... but pls also note that after all your rooms are cooled and when you have set your temp to 25deg (as recommended to save the world), the invertors do run at a lower speed compared to the non-invert thus there is really energy savings for sure in such cases.

What is reported will stand true if you turn on all units and blast away... invertor or not, no savings to power consumption.

Happy Cooling... Have you Inverted? :horse:
