hobbes187 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 (edited) Went to Barang Barang today to look for chairs to match my dining table. This is the dining table I bought which was on display there. We initially wanted to buy the Kitami bench shown in the pic but it is $590 each!! No choice it is too expensive even with 25% off as a starhub member. The other 2 chairs look ok to me as well and they are a lot more affordable, about $104 each after discount. We decided to go look ard at furniture mall for similiar benches or chairs before making a decision. Anyway GSS is one week away... But I really like the way this table is set up in the showroom Edited April 29, 2008 by hobbes187
hobbes187 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 We also went down to the site to meet my ID for some discussion on the wiring and placement of switches. Some of the tiles were up already. These are what have been done in 3 days from sat till today. MBR toilet The walls are up and this pic is actually supposed to show the feature wall with flower design. But the wall is still covered with lots of powery stuff (from the cement I assume) so I cant get a good shot of it. ID says after chemical washing and with lights the patterns can be clearly seen. Common toilet The walls are mostly up also and I really like this design! The feature wall really makes the toilet look posh. Too bad we cant use this design in the MBR toilet cos with the shower screen + vanity top + feature walls, the whole place will look like a cluttered mess Kitchen The kitchen wall is halfway done and the workers looks to be very meticulous in their work. Hopefully when I go down again on Thurs the kitchen will be done Anyway the guy in blue is the guy following Max ard as mentioned by some of the forummers. So everything is progressing and once the kitchen wall tiles are done (hopefully tmr), then the floor tiles in the kitchen can start. ID is proposing to run some of the wiring under the tiles to hide the ugly trunking in places where I dont have false ceiling. Is that advisable? Personally I think should be ok... hobbes187 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 Anyone can advise me on whether it is ok to lay wiring below the tiles? My ID is proposing shifting 2 power points from one wall to another wall and he says running wire under the tiles will minimise ugly trunking running up to the ceiling. Have you guys done this before?

Have you guys done this before? I tink it shd b ok if u r not: 1. shifting the point in the future 2. adding more points in the future Is it under wall or floor tile? Jus got to take note if under floor tiles, cos scare water seepage & cause short-circuit. If wall, shd b relatively safe.. L3x

L3x Prob wont be shifting the points after moving in but you brought up a good point on water seeping in. The points where the wires run under the tiles will be in the living room and study room. I guess the only water contact in those area should be when mopping the floor... So should be safe right? Water from mop shouldnt seep below the tiles right? hobbes187 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 (edited) I have been so busy with the renovation that I have not had much time in recent weeks for my hobby - photography. Today was flipping thru the ICI colour swatch booklet which I "kop" from Barang Barang and it inspired me to whip out my DSLR and did a mini series on some of the nicer colours. Comments welcomed If anyone is interested, you can view my other photos at http://www.flickr.com/hobbes187 We want one outstanding wall in each room and we're still deciding on what colours to choose. So far the tentative list are all earth tones since we're doing resort theme. I love the lollipop and Fiesta Orange but they dont fit into my theme, maybe I should have done a pop art theme instead Anyway I will use lily white for the whole house and the oustanding wall in the living room will be Mocha Delight while that in the guest room will be Natural Linen. The outstanding wall in the study will be in Stone Cave. Have to double confirm with ID that they all look good together. For short circuit to occur: The water must seep thru the tiles, the cement, the trunking, & the insulation of the cable. L3x
BunBun 5 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 (edited) May I add that resort theme can be modern, kampong style or rustic charm. so it doesn't have to be just totally earthy. Earth colours are commonly used for this theme, you can use at least 1 bright colour for a certain room that matches with the earthy colour. Say for eg, fiesta orange will look good on a single wall (feature) and the rest of the walls in the room in beige or something earthy with wood furniture & dim lighting btw. You can tweak it a bit more by using 2 tone as long as its in sync with what you want to achieve. less is more for bright colours. Its like the dining table with wood frame chairs with colours from barang barang. Heh, looking to seeing pics of your resort theme. It's similar to the color beside mocha delight in your photo. I think color is brighter in real... Yeah this colour is very nice. But my floor tiles are not pure white but slight beige in colour so might not match this... Maybe I might consider this for the study room... Still cant make up my mind... I'm worried that if I paint the whole wall behind the tv console with mocha delight, the whole living room will appear darker... sigh... Cant visualise how the colour will turn out... BunBun 5 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 I think ICI & Nippon have this service where you just give them your scanned photos of your place and do the colour combination on the walls in the photo. You can check out their website for the service if you are not sure. Yeah this colour is very nice. But my floor tiles are not pure white but slight beige in colour so might not match this...
