hobbes187 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2008 Today went to Choo Chiang and go this... A Hager timer switch for my foyer light. It will be fixed into the MCB box and the light will auto turn on everyday for a certain period of time. Have been looking for something like this for a long time cos I want a timer switch that is neat and concealed, not those bulky timers sold in DIY shops. hobbes187 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2008 (edited) Final colour scheme confirmation Courtesy of ICI design service. Living rm - Sandstone + lily white Finally decided on sandstone over mocha delight due to its lighter shade... MBR - Natural linen + lily white Guestroom - Bracken sand + lily white Study room - Vintage yellow (Not sandstone as stated in pic) + pure white I think vintage yellow looks better with pure white than lily white... hobbes187 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2008 Some updates on the progress over the last week... Tiling 95% of tiling work have been completed, the only things left are the touching up, the bomb shelter and some wall tiles in the toilet to be done up after my ventilation fan installation. The guestroom and study room tiles are done also. So tiling took 2 weeks to complete 95% instead of the 3 weeks planned. Guestroom Study room Electrical works Went down over the weekend and was surprised that electrical works have started. It wasn't slated to begin for another week so this was way ahead of schedule Wiring for L-box in living area Wiring for dining area false ceiling Wiring for MBR false ceiling Shifting of power points and SCV points in study room. ID suggested routing the wires under the tiles thru PVC pipes and the result is much less trunking I'm glad the wires are neatly punched through the walls instead of going around the room... Complaints Not everything can be swee swee while doing reno. This is our main complaint of the day - a drainage point in the kitchen not done to my expectation. We feel that this part can be done much better. Firstly they should not have used the white colour cover cos it is too much of an eyesore. Secondly, the vertical removable tile is not well done and it doesnt sit snugly in the hole. Instead if I push it, it will become slanted. Complained to ID and he promised me he will get them to redo the whole thing. He propose using a removable tile to replace the white cover (since it is elevated and probably wont be needed for drainage. He will also get them to do up the vertical portion properly. hobbes187 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2008 (edited) My toilet ventilation fan was installed today and my ID supervised the installation. He asked me to go down and take a look after work cos he felt that the top hung window is a bit stiff when opening and he held back payment to Central Aluminium in case I want them to rectify anything So I went down just now armed with a torch light and groping in the dark. I found that it wasnt as stiff as I expected and only a little resistance was felt probably due to it being new. So I guess my ID has higher standards than me. I called him up and told him to pay Central as the windows are quite ok to me. I like the fact that the fan they used were the larger KDK model and seems much better than the one I have at my current place. With the top hung window, the toilet looks brighter too. Will take picture the next time I'm at the site. Cant really see much to comment on the workmanship or material of the window. Also, my ID got his own tilers to touch on the areas surrounding the window so hard to tell who's workmanship it is Anyway, anyone has any idea how I can limit the extent that the top hung window can be pushed out? I dont want it to be able to open all the way out. One way I thought of is to get my ID to drill 2 screws into the window track at each side so as to block the rail from going all the way up. hobbes187 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 (edited) Today my ID's aircon contractor came to do up the trunking so I went down and discussed with him how my trunking should be run. Its not easy coming up with a good solution! At the same time I took some photos while I was there. My ventilation fan was fixed on tuesday but I didnt see it clearly till today. The windows were done by a contractor I found myself but my ID got his men to hack the surrounding tiles and retile them after the installation The window guy actually said he may not damage the tiles but my ID insisted on hacking the surrounding tiles away cos he say he wanted the window installed properly and nicely. The workmanship seem good enough. No complaints from me on Central Aluminium The fan they gave was KDK 20WUD which is the biggest in the KDK window mount series and can suck more air. Casement window + fan cost $214 per set. MBR toilet Common toilet Close up of fan View from outside - Seems like there is a cover for the fan. Need to figure out how it works. KDK 20WUD Edited May 16, 2008 by hobbes187
hobbes187 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 The ugly drainage in the kitchen I complaint about was also replaced with a L-shaped tile. Now it look so much better right? I also went to buy 3 stainless steel floor traps to replace all the plastic floor traps in the toilet Will need the tilers to fixed them up for me.
