Hobbes187's Stomping Ground

A friend of mine bought a similar type of dining set but of diff brand for at least $2000++

Barang2 is known for its quality so u got a good bargain there indeed ! :good:

Yeah, I've been to furniture mall, IFC, courts and other furniture shops and most of the nice dining set cost about $1500-$2000++ :curse:

Thats why when i saw the BB offer, I rushed down to make my purchase. If I got this set at the usual price it would have been about $1700+.

Hobbes, can i have your breakdown reno cost for your 2 toilet?

1 toilet by 1 toilet pricing..

I wanna do one toilet nice nice (hotel std)

My 2 toilets + kichen reno are actually part of a package that cost 10.6k incl full hacking, tiling of flr and wall, installation of heaters, accesories, sinks, pipes, waterproofing, bi-fold door x 2 and 20ft of kitchen cabinet + some other freebies (which I cant reveal much till my reno is over :) )

I got an initial quote from my ID without the package and one MBR toilet roughly cost:

Hacking tiles and WC - $480

Laying of wall tiles (incl tiles, cement & labour) - $1000

Laying of floor tiles (incl tiles, cement & labour) - $420

Shower kerb - $80

Waterproofing - $80

Bi-fold door - $180

Tempered glass shower screen with door - $480

Suspended vanity cabinet with doors - $600

Mirror with solid backing (1.5m x 0.9m) - $320

Solid surface top for vanity cabinet - $225

Labour to install accesories,WC, heater, basin - $150

So it cost about $4000 to do up the toilet incl vanity top and large hotel-like mirror. If without vanity top its avbout $3000. This still doesnt incl cost of the WC, tap, heater, mixer and accesories which can cost another $1000.

So based on the price, I think I made a right move to take the package to do both bathrooms (which would have cost $3000-4000) and the kitchen as well.

Some updates for the day... Nothing much done except for the common toilet flooring, kitchen tiles and some more tiles in the living area.

Half of the living room is now completed... Hopefully by next week they can complete the living and dining room and start on the bedrooms.

The common toilet flooring is done... Really like the result :)

Kitchen walls also mostly done up. Even the grouting is done. The workmanship is good by my standard (which isnt much to begin with :P)

This is the PVC pipe that the electrician use to shift my SCV and socket to the other side of the room. The wires will be run under the tiles.

Now for some shots taken for the fun of it:

So thats all for now... Progressing slowly but steadily... After lots of consideration, we are having second thoughts on some of the laminates chosen before and will be meeting the ID to discuss them... Probably will get him to redraw the 3D again.

Also I'm still having headache on how to settle the ventilation fan in the toilets... Should I tap them to an existing light point or run a brand new point with ugly trunking in my nice toilets :(

I'm flattered :P

Usually I bring my compact digi cam with me to the site. But today's photos were taken with my DSLR with external flash so they look a bit better. I try not to bring such a big cam there when there're contractors working but since today is sunday I thought why not :notti:

:) If you were referring to those pics I shot of the renovations, those were shot with normal zoom lens (18-200mm). Didnt bring my macro lens cos dont wanna expose it to the dusty and dirty environment :D The Nippon colour swatches were shot with Tokina 100mm macro lens.

Anyway I support Nikon, using a D80. Canon cameras too plasticky and light for me ;)

Canon for me! :P

Using 400D now....considering 450D now...hmmmm hehehe

450D is a good camera but since u already have 400D, might as well go for 40D. You get a lot more feature (pentaprism viewfinder, faster fps etc) and a solid magnesium alloy body. :good:

Now broke due to reno... No money to buy lens or camera (would love to get a Nikon D300) :bangwall:

Oopsies... The pictures of the light switch and sand were taken at such a close range, I just assumed it was macro. Paiseh.

Ahh Nikon. I'm a Canon 350D user. Very ol skool...Haha.

However, its currently residing at home gathering dusts.

Its ok la. My 400D is upgrade from my 300D which was my first DSLR (used to play with EOS 300 film). But sadly, after I upgrade to 400D, I stopped much photography.

Its ironical that when I was having 300D and carrying haversacks of lenses + 2 bodies + one freaking heavy tripod + external flash, I was complaining that I dun have a license to drive.. but I still go out every week to take photos

Now that I drive, I am lazy. Hahhaa. My usual setup is just a body w/o batt kit and a general walkabout lens (18-200) LOL

Yeah. But I dun need such a good body la. :D Honestly my current 400D is enuff la, just that I gian the live view (good for idiot proofing) and the FINAL change to able to use SD cards in budget bodies.
