hobbes187 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 Activation of Power and WaterToday met the technician from Singapore Powers to activate my water and electricity. To my surprise, he said someone had illegally turned on them on already! He told me it was likely done by the HDB contractors as they changed all my power sockets and switches. They sort of force open the electricity box to access the main switch and one of the plastic panel is broken. The SP guy says he has seen many such cases and showed me the boxes of my neighbours and they were all in similiar conditions. Theses contractors were supposed to get water and electricity from downstairs instead of doing this "lazy man method".Do I need to inform the town council to ask them to repair?Site survey by ADT SecurityI am planning to install a security system in my new place as I've had one in my parent's current place and we find it very useful. I called up ADT and Cisco Certis for quotes and the ADT guy came down today to survey the place.ADT has a package where the equipment will be free but there will be a 3 yr subscription to their monitoring service. Cost is $40 per month so I figured the cost will be $1400 after 3 yrs. It includes a home content insurance from NTUC also.I will be waiting to see Cisco's package before deciding who to go with. hobbes187 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 (edited) RefrigeratorWent fridge hunting for past 2 days. The main criteria for us is that the fridge should be energy saving yet look nice and fit into our design. We want one with stainless steel finish and shortlisted the following models:Hitachi R-Z480AMS 474L/375L(Nett) 3 ticksHitachi R-Z514AMS 522L/435L(Nett) 2 ticksSharp SJT40R 397L/298L(Nett) 3 ticksFinally decided on the Hitachi R-Z480AMS as it is large enough yet energy saving. Prices vary a lot from different places...Best Denki - $799Gain City - $759Kong Tai - $720Everjoint - $698Think I will be getting from Everjoint within the next few weeks cos they have an unbeatable price. So when buying electrical appliances, do call up many places to check their prices before commiting Will be getting TV and washing machine only later in the year. The fridge is more urgent as ID needs the dimension to build my cabinet. Edited April 20, 2008 by hobbes187

kajua 1 Report post Posted April 20, 2008 (edited) RefrigeratorFinally decided on the Hitachi R-Z480AMS as it is large enough yet energy saving. We bought the same one. Does Everjoint have stock of the fridge? This is a very popular fridge, we been waiting for the shipment since early march. We ask at GAB, Hong Liang, Aik Leong and Tai Sing, both were sold out. Initially shipment was suppose to come mid march, then delay to end march, then delay mid april. When we heard shipment came in, my FH rush down to Tai Sing and try to order. But Tai Ship told him allocation all ordered already! He made noise at the shop told them how long they made us wait for the fridge etc etc etc then left the shop asking the guy to call him when next shipment come. Was walking away resign to waiting again, when the shop owner called him back. Shop owner started calling distributor and try to squeeze one out for us. Finally after long discussiong found us one Think the guy felt bad about itWe got ours at $699 at TaiSing. The price was $689 actually when we first asked in early march Edited April 20, 2008 by kajua

hobbes187 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 are you doing a feature wall for the tv? or leaving the tv on the tv console? me still pondering hang or not to hang..Nope, I'm not doing TV feature wall. What I'm doing is painting the wall in a darkr shade then buying a gigantic abstract art to hang up. The art piece will be the focal point on that wall. Anyway my TV will be sitting on the console. I figured that hanging it up will result in ugly exposed wires. We bought the same one. Does Everjoint have stock of the fridge? The lady didnt say anything about running out of stock when I called up. Will not be needing it urgently, I'm ok as long as I get it in the end. So which place gave the best price when u looked ard?we will be looking for hob and hood, basin and wc and taps, and fridge and microwave oven for the next few day. Did we miss out anything that needs to be purchased first??Looks like Poh Joo is very popular. Is there any other places to go to compare prices? Where is Everjoint?Think u need to buy kitchen sink, water heaters and toilet accessories also. You can try royal fanco in jalan besar, thats one of the shops I will be heading to this weekend to buy my taps and heaters Also for me I will be buying KDK ceiling fan and toilet fans.
