hey guys...

i have contacted hdb regarding my uneven tiles in the kitchen...and luckily the contractor can replace for us...

but we can choose to use back the hdb tiles at no cost or we need to top up some money to replace a more exp tiles....

wondering if i should cough out more $$$ for the kitchen tiles...

in that case..

i should try contacting HDB to hack for me hahaha..

Wah so good! If thats the case you can go to Hafary to look at the tiles you want. The tiles HDB gives is about $0.70 so you will top up whatever difference. Usually kitchen tiles cost $2.20-$3.

So they only doing the kitchen for you but not the toilets? How uneven are the tiles? The HDB tiles are ugly... Think you should go for new tiles but make sure the contractor does a good job. Is the guy Mr Tee?

Hi, just a question. Is the request to get HDB to hack the tiles available for Standard flats too or just for Premium flats ?

The flat me and my FH purchasing already comes with floor and wall tiling for the kitchen and bathroom. Ive seen it and don't quite like it so am planning to get the HDB contractor to hack..

You can try to request as long as there are defects e.g. your tiles are cracked or damaged. If not they will not hack for you... I also dont like my tile but that's not a good enough reason for HDB to hack FOC Ended up getting ID to hack.

Anyway for new flats less than 3 yrs old, you cant hack the tiles yourself so if HDB doesnt want to do it for you then you have to live with it!

Hi all,

finally got down to starting our own t-blog here. Anyway to cut a long story short, after 2 failed attempts in the Aug 07 and Oct 07 bi-monthly ballots, we finally struck gold in Dec 07. That was the Sengkang/Hougang Punggol ballot and there were 5000+ applications for 270 flats.

Although our number was 179, we managed to get our choice unit, a 15th floor (top level) EA within 5 min walk from Sengkang MRT and Compasspoint.

I cant say who is better as I have never dealt with kenneth before. My reno with max is starting in 3 weeks time and all I can say is so far so good with him. He just seem like an honest chap compared with some of the other smooth-talking IDs i've seen before.

Anyway I have sent u a PM on his number.

Good luck to you. Have you knocked on all your tiles yet? I've found some tiles hollow on one corner, about 10% of a single tile area but both my ID and the HDB officer says that the standard to classify a tile as hollow is about 40-50% area hollow. So HDB wont hack it for me.

Btw I just realised ur ID is max.. Coincidentally, we went down to their showroom yesterday for a consult with him and it went pretty well. The quote was pretty attractive ..

3D Drawing Final Version

Finally, I've more or less finalised the design of the house. Now its up to the feng shui master to give his final confirmation after I email him the drawing and we're all set. I've attached drawing below but pardon the poor scan quality!

Living room

The shoe rack is full height and the rectangle piece in the middle will be glass. I plan to hang a large oil painting on the wall between the shoe rack and the TV console and it will be the main focus point in the living room.

Bomb shelter feature wall

The bomb shelter feature will be white laminate like the shoe cabinet but somehow the scan makes it turn out more beige in color.

Master bedroom

The wall behind the bed will be in darker shade and I plan to buy a long rectangle abstract art piece to hang there. Also need to look for nice side tables to complement the bed.

Master bedroom toilet

The feature will be the tiles with flower prints inside the shower area. Decided to change from sliding shower screen to swing door after much considerations. The wall tiles look more whitish in real life so hope it turns out nice! We've also chosen the basin to be exactly the same one in the picture.

2nd bedroom

Nothing much in this guestroom except the built in wardrobe.

Kitchen

The theme in the kitchen will be wooden laminate on white backing together with white solid top. Again the colour turned out a bit peachy instead of white My stove will be at a 45 degrees angle as advised by my FSM. The extra table top on the right side will hopefully give us enough space to prepare food and put our cups and stuff.

Kithcen toilet

Kitchen toilet with a feature wall behind the WC and in the shower area. Will prob be using shower curtain here as it wont be used often.

We just signed the confimation contract with i-deal house yesterday...so the reno should be starting pretty soon.

Did u sign on Fri or Sat? I was there Sat nite and Max was talking to a couple before us.

The bathroom tiles were chosen by Max, Steven and the Hafary salesman. The design wise is done by Max. I only stated my requirements like large mirrors, shower screen, vanity top etc... He chose the colours... Hope that helps... Did u hack ur toilets too?
