Our Cosy Country Home

Recommended Posts

We had our Singtel DEL activated yesterday, and this is the colonial-style shabby chic telephone we bought from USA. :thumbs up:

Besides the princess wall murals I posted above, we also bought some wall borders for the living, study and MBR.

During my packing, I realised I had two big boxes of country-style home decor! Didn't realise I had bought so much, dunno how I'm gonna fit them all into my home. :jawdrop: Will take pics and share as I slowly unpack my stuff.

Hi gege,

Your place is so nicely decorated!!

Love the country kitchen!!

hihi...thanks :sport-smiley-018:

it was done by country concept at tanjong katong mall...tink they r being mentioned in the forum too..

Nice fire place there... :thumbs up:

How come the wall feature is pink? you like pink? :D

hehhee....thanks...i still wanna to touch up the fireplace a bit more...with those metal fence...but i cant seem to find it...any idea????

actualli it is mauve...slightly purplish....wanna something to brighten up the wall as my whole place is all in creamy colors... ;)

Yeah totally agree! A very fresh modern country look indeed with all those French white furniture. I hoped mine will turn out to be something similar. :good:

I initially wanted everything white in my home but on 2nd thoughts, it's not practical at all, esp when I have 2 young kids at home! End up, all turn out black by the end of the year. 8|

I especially would want my kitchen cabinet to be white but cleaning up will be an issue as we are gonna cook and bake quite often.

The only place I've maintained the white theme is the MBR. The rest of the rooms and living room, I'm basically using teak wood furniture and other dark woods.

Gege, care to share how much u spent on reno and who's your ID? I love your bathroom mirror. Where did u buy it?

thanks countrylover :D as my place is beri small so feel that the classical country will overwhelm the small space...thus adapt tis into a modern country with creamy colors and furniture.....i tink more french + english country... :o

totally love my country haven......hehehe actualli i bake and cook almost every wkend too...but i tell myself the creamy whitish yellow will look more shabby as time go by...new style :notti:

i use country concept...for the bathroom mirror...cant reali recall..i tink it shd b thru ebay....

What kind of metal fence are u thinking of doing? Wrought iron kind? Y didn't u ask Country Concept to get it all done?

I think u can call a window supplier to check. I believe they are able to do it for u.

After painting the rooms, I realise that the colours are too dark. I initially wanted to have pastel shades. Sigh, the paint catalogue really turns out to be quite different from the final look. :furious:

We finally had the piano shifted over yesterday evening. :dancingqueen: It's only been a week, but somehow feel that the house is incomplete without our musical companion.

Thanks! We were contemplating on whether we shd paint over it but decided to keep it's original colour, so as to retain the cottage look.

Cottage Craft has really cool stuff but I find their items overly priced. If budget is a constraint, you could consider other alternatives.

We are thinking of building a brick fireplace in the MBR to serve as a TV console, but not sure if the effect will turn out nice.

hihi...thanks for the suggestion....

actuali i tink country concept is more specialised in country kitchen....i saw the fireplace in the tanjong katong ofc thus ask them to adapt it for my hse..

quite true...for mbr..i thot one of the color was creamy...the effect which i wanna...but after painting..it is like greyish...so i got them to retry another color...sometimes the lighting in the room will also impact the color effect... :)

hihi..thot of them...but their items are always expensive :bangwall: not worth the price....

also my contractor cld not find the fake fire for the fireplace...u noe those lights with the flying paper that make it look like a fire.... :dunno: any idea where to get it?

Thanks! My piano is actually in a mahogany finish, very close to black. Blends beautifully with the teak wood furniture in my living room. We had the living room furniture arranged last nite, as our new LCD TV is arriving today. Will try to post up some pics tonite.

We've managed to rearrange the furniture in our living room last two days. This will probably not be the final layout, as we are still waiting for the partition to be installed. But at least it makes my home looks more organised. Still cartons lying everywhere, but I've professionally kept them out of the photos. :notti:

Our new 37" Sony LCD TV...

Love this baby quilt, which I hand-sewn it myself. It measures abt 43" x 57". Took many months to complete it, but it's well worth the time and effort! I will eventually hang it up in a quilt hanger, just using it as a "temporary" table cloth, so as to add some colours to the living room. I'm looking for a quilt-hanger with shelf but can't seem to find it anywhere in Singapore. :( Will look around again and hopefully I can have better luck.

A showcase of some of my country treasures...

My living room still looks very bare and plain. Need to put in more effort to bring more "life" to it. Have not installed shelves, added cushions, done up the feature wall etc. But at least we could see that things are slowly taking shape. :)

Hi Countrylover,

Like the displays on the living room table. Did you buy them at ebay?

I recently bought a shabby chic wall clock with pink roses as background and a bathroom sign from ebay. Waiting for the items to be sent to me around this week. Can't wait to see how the actual things look like. Hope better than the pics. ;)

By the way, did you check out the website I have given you regarding country furniture?

Cheers,
