Laxton & Samantha's Little Roof Over Our Heads

Recommended Posts

Hi Samkcy79!

Really love your place :dribble::dribble: !! Pls post more pics! :dancingqueen:

Did u install the city gas heater as well?

Hello Cyn!

Thanks! I love it too and cannot wait to move in! Wah... already alot of pics leh... I can sit at my laptop for 1.5 hour to edit the photos, upload it and post it online (Renotalk and Blogspot) ... tough work but worth the effort!

Nope, we did not install the gas heater as the flow rate of water is lower than electrical heater. Also, gas heater has to be installed in an open area (not the bathroom - gas leak precaution). We installed an electrical water heater instead.

More furniture will be delivered and there will be more photos soon!

Stay tuned!

P.S: Cny: So, when is your reno? Do post pics too as there aren't many 5 room point block owners who put up a Reno T-Blog here!

Cheers :seeya:

your tiles are so nice! but a bit reflective lei.. :notti:

Hi diva79!

Yeah.. the tiles are hi-gloss type so is v v reflective. hee hee.. My ID told me that guests to my house MUST NOT WEAR skirts... :dribble: haha

Cleaning is really easy whether I use mop or magic clean or even broom stick as it is so smooth. Also, because it looks too squiky clean, I tend to be more fussy about cleanliness.

Cheers!

Hey Cny

Thanks! Yeah searching for ID is a headache. But do narrow to a few good and recommended ones and is still within your budget.

During the reno process, what I did was to drop by as often as I can to see what had been done and what need to be done. If your parents or parents-in-law can help with the monitoring during the day time esp when u are working, it would be great. Sometimes just do a surprise visit to the work to check on them and their work. Also MUST buy drinks and lunch/snack for them.

Happy ID searching!

Samantha

Hi aves!

Hi patsy_sg

I have to put the dryer on a wall mount bracket because my washing machine is top loading. From what I gather, you have a front loader washing machine, and its just a replacement dryer, why not just put it on top of your washer?

Maybe a none-slip rubber mat or a silicon one may help in noise reduction and cleaning. Cleaning maybe a problem if you have it mounted with a wall bracket in betweens.

When in doubt, it's always good to ask the sales person why he advised so maybe he had reasons for it? :dunno:

Cheers!

hi samantha, yeah... seems it's common practise to just put it on top, luckily my washing machine is a front loading one. Thanks for your info!

Hi Cyn,

We bought our sofa from Morris at about 1.5k. If you've not checked it out i'd suggets you make a trip there. They stock a lot of sofas at very reasonable prices. We were hunting around for a sofa that was long enough lengthwise. Many places either did not have it or even if they did, it was exceedingly expensive. Morris had the design that we wanted which was why we decided to go with it.

Our place is done using false ceiling. Although the ceiling is lower, our ID minimised the height of the false ceiling so that it will not protrude down too much. He told us that as long as we don't touch the round variety of downlights, we will not have an issue. The final result is more than acceptable to say the least with sufficient clearance from floor to ceiling.

Hi Cny!

My hubby is most particular about the sofa because of his height. He wanted the 'L' part of the sofa to be long enough from him so that his legs will not dangle off the edge. We took some time to look for the perfect sofa at reasonable price as most we saw were almost 2k or even more. Morris has a wide range of sofa and this particular one fits my hubby's criteria perfectly. :) ... See how he pose for us in the pic? Haha ...

Hi Cny!

Yeah I think the sofa is a man's thingy. I really don't understand. Anyway I am happy with his choice and thought it is the best and value for money. One of our friends even got the same sofa recently!

Yeah L shaped sofa cost alot nowadays. That price you mentioned is the norm. Try visiting Morris and see if they have anything you may like. That place is pretty out of the way and quite ulu.

I read about ur fustrations with your seller. :furious::argue: This is the biggest headache. :bangwall: I hope things will work out fine for you soon.

Good luck!

Samantha

Great sofa and Great pictures!! :)
