Hey wiredchaos,

- if ur wall is made-up of light-weight precast wall (hollow internal), u will most probably see e jointing groove line, unless hdb or previous owner oleady use plaster 2 filled e grooves.

If not, dis is wen cement plastering cums in to fill e grooves.

- if ur wall is made-up of concrete hollow block, u will most probably see e uneveness of e wall wen u lok at it sideways, unless hdb or previous owner oleady done 'smooth finish'.

If not, dis is wen plastering cums in to smoothen e wall.

It can be done either by (1)normal cement plastering or (2)chemical smooth finish.

Depends on own budget, esthetic or design.

Under hdb reno guidelines, It is allowed to cement plaster e internal walls of units.

- if ur ceiling (underside of slab of neighbour above) is those pre-stressed concrete plank, u will most probably see e jointing groove line, unless hdb or previous owner oleady use plaster 2 filled e grooves (by left).

Under hdb reno guidelines, It is not allowed to cement plaster e ceiling.

U may consider false ceiling to hide e groove lines. How deep e false ceiling, i'm sure ur ID/contractor wil b able 2 advise u.

Fyi, finished floor to underside of ceiling, clear height is min. 2400mm.

False ceiling is priced at $$$ x per sq feet. (Includes materials & labour, excludes light holders, fixtures & installation)

On y it is call 'grey' area, i gues its bcos, although it is clearly stated in e hdb reno guidelines, some ppl stil do it secretly. By rite canot, by left ppl do. Once get caught, both sides olso in trouble.

On 'wil e cement plaster on ceiling peel off overtime'? i gues it will.

Thanks Jacky for yr in depth explanation.. really apppretiate yr kind effort.

But i guess it all boils dwn to " U can do it, but jus dun get caught" thingy. :deal:

But will skip the idea la since can save money and ceiling not tat jialat and can hide abit wif false ceiling.
