Bed Under Beam

Recommended Posts

Hi

Is it true that the bed should not be located below a ceiling beam? Hv been told this by a contractor who came to quote. This room is extremely small (more suitable for a study room) and the beam runs along the side of the wall where the bed is to be located (no other suitable place as room is odd shaped) but I have no choice but to use it as a bedroom so thinking of either specially building a thicker bedhead or go look for one that's thick enough. Any advice please?

It is said (according to FS) that sleeping under a beam will bring pressures in life. Having said that, it's ultimately your decision. For me, it's simple enough to follow.

Yes, DO NOT place anything or whatever under the beam.

this is one of the most critical aspect of fs relating to BED.

not only one will feel pressurized, he/she will also have a unclear mind, unable to concentrate on anything. Always doing things halfway or doing it wrong without realising it.

More serious cases will be ending up sitting on the parapet at he 16th floor pondering whether to jump or not cos just kena jilted or retrenched or just lost his/her wallet.

Oh dear, do you mean even placing a thick headboard under it is taboo? If so, I will have a big headache because my other alternative will be to place it along other wall which will result in bed facing the door; not acceptable too, right? With a headboard the same thickness as the beam, the person will not be sleeping directly under it so would that be ok? :dancingqueen:

That certainly sounds worrying. Is there something one can do at all to counter the ill effects?

the best way of fengshui-ing = aviod

no point buying a water bottle that is full of holes then seek for experts on how to patch the holes.

the prevention is better than cure theory.

I have seen some houses layout with toilet in the centre of the house - is there really a way to counter?

ans - yes, only way is to hack away the toilet or just dont buy this house.

or go look for those conmen fsm and buy "magic stuffs" that cost thousands of dollars and lie to yourself that problem is solved ala ostrich mentality.

Too late, house already bought! Room too small and irregular so options very limited, that's why need to seek advice from folks here.

i'm not sure about this beam thingy. though all the books i've read generally say cannot sleep under beam. BUT i think my fsm ask me to put my bed-head against the wall that has a beam. I asked him 3x if i can place it elsewhere (as i was not too keen to put the bed there)... partly coz it might make the room a little crampy. But he insisted that this is the best direction. :sport-smiley-004: so... maybe other things like diirection and bazi should be taken into consideration, and not under beam is juz something "general"? juz my tots only. :dunno:

Tks for sharing another perspective to this topic. I'm very new to fs and, in fact, don't observe any fs 'rules'. However, for some reason, I was a little uncomfortable when the contractor casually commented that this was what he heard about sleeping under a beam being bad for fs so I thought if can avoid, then avoid. I really have not much choice where the location of the bed is concerned and have gone ahead to custom-made a thicker bedhead. Tks again! :notti:
