cookcpu 1 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 If you install 2 units of this system, make sure your window are good at sound proofing or install far away from the bedrooms like roof top.It is quite noisy.
wuga98 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks for the link, yes i am getting the daikin a/c. http://www.daikin.com.sg/products.asp?series=c1my m&e guy suggested 2 units, he did not mentioned about noise. At this pt, all my windows are fascina. But i don;t intent to close all the windows all the time, will have to check on the noise level. How is this compare to the conventional one? wuga98 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks for the info. I guest the only advantage of the VRV is only energy saving and probably being compact. cookcpu 1 Report post Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks for the info. I guest the only advantage of the VRV is only energy saving and probably being compact. Another advantage is you don't need to buy 10 or more aircon units for the whole house. Just install 2 VRV units and put it into one corner.

Thanks. Are u sure your M&E guy is working for u or the aircon company? VRV is highly specialised equipment meant for large halls or ***** constraints.Perhaps u may have specified that u wanted your entire basketball court sized house to be AC on together. VRV means that all indoor units need to be piped to a central location, compared to a situation where a outdoor unit may be placed closer to the indoor unit, improving efficiency.Also.. VRV is not exactly scalable downwards. Cooling 1 room with a VRV is overkill. Maybe a penny wise pound foolish decision.think get a second opinion. wuga98 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2008 Not sure if it's an over kill or not, but i told them that i do not want all the unsightly aircon compressor on ledges all over the house. And, i want less of those and also it has to be neat, if possible hide them somewhere. Most of my AC is the cassette type, last count i have 14 aircons in my house.I will check since you brought this up. !! Are u sure your M&E guy is working for u or the aircon company? Chunky Monkey 2 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 wuga, I just visited a friend who moved into a house her father built for her (Wilkinson Road) and she has 2 of these compressors that are placed on the ground in her back kitchen. They are huge!! I was very surprised to see them, and asked why her father's developer chose these mega compressors, and his rationale is no different from yours i.e. to amalgamate all aircon units into 2 mega compressors. This is something that I have not done personally, and I do not have direct experience to share if there are real pros for doing it. But top of mind, I wonder if it's really energy saving if you only have 1 or 2 ceiling cassette fans running.

Most of my AC is the cassette type, last count i have 14 aircons in my house.I will check since you brought this up. That is the main reason that I install 2 VRV on my new house. Not sure about consumption as I believe it won't be a big different in energy saving from those individual compressor unit. With 2 VRV unit, if one is spoil, you can use the other VRV unit to cool your whole house until the repairman come to check on the faulty unit.It is hide behind the house outside the attic. Just my 2 yen.

wuga98 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 wilkinson near broadrick rd? I think the abalone king guy house is near there. haha, maybe there is some goodness in it after all. I have seen houses having their external wall "tiled" with compressors and i thought some house keeping will do some good there. If it saves me cost it's a bonus.I think her ID person can do some landscaping and hide the 2 sucker, out of sight out of mind. haha.I will share the pics and findings here when it is operating. wuga, I just visited a friend who moved into a house her father built for her (Wilkinson Road) and she has 2 of these compressors that are placed on the ground in her back kitchen. These compressors need to sit on the ground. And they take up floor area. Food for thought?
cookcpu 1 Report post Posted February 13, 2008 so the noise is less obvious? It is located just outside my study room which on the attic floor. I have to close the window and the noise from the VRV system is not that loud.I have not move in yet so I can't tell whether the 2 bedroom on the 2nd floor will be affected by the VRV system noise when in full load.
