lifestyle 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 Installing additional lights (eg Spot Lights, PLC, etc..) should be no problem. Workers needs to cut some holes (how big depends on where the nearest lighting points source (incase of "tapping" from that lighting source). Please tell them to keep the original cut out piece so that they can patch back and plastered for easier work.Removing entire false ceiling could be very costly but if the condition is not so good then good idea to replace all. Please note that if any SP Testing done will be void if any changes are made.Hi,I bought a resale flat which comes with false celling and some lightings already. Can i install more spot lights onto the false celling? Any idea how much is it to install the spot light onto the falso celling?what u mean by SP testing???
lifestyle 0 Report post Posted January 25, 2008 (edited) My estimate guess is $35-45 for each lighting point (but this is based on quite a number of lighting points) and depends on the extensive works done on the false ceiling. Patching up false ceiling & repainting may be another separate cost."SP Testing" means the electrician submit request to SP Power to come to the premises and check on all the electrical/lighting points to make sure it adhere to rules & regulation. This is suppose to be mandatory (if any changes are made to the place) by law to ensure it is safe and do not pose any danger to the household or to the building but i guess most household do not do this because of the costs (i.e professional fees to the electrician) & inconvenients.Hi thanks for the reply. The false celling is still in good condition. lifestyle 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2008 You probably right regarding price as i have not being to Jalan Besar. The shop i went to at Balestier Road got great service & very flexible in that they allows you to change the product provided you have not use or open the lighting products....just in case you decided to change last minute. Thanks for sharing my own personal experience last week, u shld consider purchasing lights at Jalan Besar instead, prices are better than balestair imo ... try Point One Lighting
