hang from the ceiling? :dancingqueen: !!

how heavy is the painting? if less than 2kg can get the 3M adhesive hooks, quite not bad

3M adhesives have those that hold p to 4 kg...i used those and not bad, dun have to hammer the wall.

It's velcro, sticks well too. Alternatively, if don't want to hang, can buy easel stand, can display painting like art gallery kind.

got to get a hammer drill and drill the wall. Better get a professional. If you are framing your pic, the shop sometimes do provide this service, may not be free.

What you don't want is drill into a pipe, cables baried inside the wall. They usually have detector to detect if it was fine to drill or not.

I have 2 huge painting which i got them to frame and also hang.

:P

you referring to tapes? how much to hold 4kg?

looking for something like that too but only found the adhesive hooks :(

got but the hooks are huge - protruding out at least 3-4cm > how to hang painting?

best is conventional drill hole and screw in a hook - your precious painting sure wont drop.

Weight is one thing - the other concern is the white part on the top of the 3M hooks that will show at the back of the painting after hung up. Hooks that can bear more weight means larger 3M hooks , so chances of it "popping" into eye view is higher.

one more thing to add, drilling is not that bad, if you decide later to remove the painting, you can buy putty and fill up the holes.

Not just weight, but also b'cos i have small children running around and cannot have a failing painting. 3M is a good choice for really hanging light stuff, my 2 cents.

Agree. For my framed glass painting, I drill and hang with additional 3M adhesives velcro !! The velcro also prevented painting been blown side way and damage my wall.

I use a variety of 3M hooks in my home for different items. The maximum weight each hook can hold is indicated on the box.

I agree that if you are afraid of the painting falling or getting pulled down by kids, you should drill and then secure it with the 3M velcro. It's more secure that way.

Homefix has a wide range of 3M items. You can check out the heavy duty type. i saw a large 3M shelf in Homefix are Marina Square, which is their flagship store.

I believe most of the oil painting is done on canvas therefore it is rather easy to hang the painting with just a nail in the centre or on both side of the canvas. Do not use too long a nail and make sure at least 30% of the nail is inside the wall and the remaining length of the nail is enough for the width of the canvas to sit on it. All the paintings in my place is done this way and has hanged for long time without any problem. If you check out my website at www.flickr.com/paintgal and if you see the paintings being hanged on the wall.

By the way, can anyone tell me where I can buy plain canvas for oil painting in Singapore. Most of my work is done in Europe but in Singapore I see quite a few sold in Bras Basah Complex, there are rather expensive here. Some advice on this issue is most appreciated.

unfortunately, bras basah complex offers you the best selection and prices for art supplies are somewhat 'fixed'. while art friend probably offers the widest selection, you can always compare prices among the numerous shops in bras basah. alternatively, you can cross the road and check out straits commercial. i see very difference in their prices also.

the cheapest alternative will be to buy the canvas and stretch it yourself.
