Redwyrm, yes I drew it myself. Actually it's not complete yet, beds not put in. I've been trying to visualise what I want before going to any ID. Especially the study and kitchen.

The layout of your floor plan is good especially can put a dinning table and yet still spacious.

Wow...so many themes..really headache to choose.

Actually, it isn't spacious. My reaction on opening the main door for the first time was, ah! so small!

If you look at the living room layout, you'll notice there's hardly any walking space. I drew the dining table in its 'full' position. When there are no guests, the table flap will fold down and the table will be rotated and laid against the wall, to allow better movement.

I think the style won't be so varied lah. Think I'll settle for a basically English style with a generally 'Old World' feel. No Moroccan shisha den here!

It's fine, no offence taken. I don't plan to do things that require heavy maintenance. I will, for example, get cupboards built to the ceiling so that I won't have to clean the tops. And I will have doors for the bookshelves so I won't have to dust my hundreds of books. But I do intend to hang LOTS of photos on some walls like the magazine clippings shown, and also indulge in texture and colour.

Thanks Phantom. Don't wanna overdo the 'ethnic'. I'm not Middle-Eastern anyway, though I am a fan of Moghul architecture. May not include any Moghul/Persian elements in the end.

Mrs_Png, mine is Unit 17. I plan to put the TV in the study, facing the sofa bed (see floor plan above). I want to make full use of the living room window light for a nice sitting area.

I think, for this new block, one big issue is light. The living room and master bedroom are the best lit, followed by the other bedrooms. The kitchen and corridor are dim, and both bathrooms are simply dark. I'm finding it hard to accept that no matter the time of day, I will have to turn on the lights every time I go into the bathroom.

Yes thanks, I've already 'reported' there. So many pages, I've dipped in here and there for tips but there's tons more left.

For me, it's not really about having something new. I don't mind visiting a friend's zen/minimalist home for a few hours, but I wouldn't be able to live there, to feel it's home. Somehow that look doesn't have a link to my history/identity.

Thanks. I've been thinking of getting either a buffet or a buffet hutch from Ikea (Leksvik series), having seen them in the catalogue. I didn't know the tall one is called a hutch.

Ya, expensive frankly. But they're solid pine after all... We may get a table and maybe a hutch, also the Jokkmokk chairs. I prefer the Ingolf chairs but they're more than twice the price!
