My Small Little Den

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Thanks to my colleague who told me about this forum. For the last few weeks I learnt a lot of stuff about home renovation and materials by surfing thro' this forum.

We bought a 3-Room resale flat and will be getting keys at the end of January. Currently I m hunting for a reasonable and reliable ID for the renovation.

I will be sharing the pictures of my flat as the work progresses. Although very few people in this forum are 3 room flats owners, I hope I can get your valuable suggestions and comments.

As a starting point to this discussion, May I know feedback on DUNLOPILLO PILLOW TOP POCKETED SPRING MATTRESS CALLED "TRADITIONAL PREMIER" which according to Courts is an enhanced version of DUTCHESS model.

Things Bought so far:

King Size Dunlopillo Mattress & Bed Frame: Courts (1899)

LG 37" LCD TV:Best Denki (1550)

Sofa :Red Apple (999)

Dining Table:Nova (799)

Study table cum cabinet: Nova (499)

Samsung Washing Machine + Fridge:Harvey Norman (1150)

Things to buy:

Kitchen Hob & Hood

Toilet Accessories

Microwave oven & many more that I cannot remember. :dribble:

hihi welcome !

actually its pretty hard to give feedback abt mattresses... becos some pple like it soft, some like hard, some like in between... some like foam, some like latex, some like feather, etc etc etc... What I do knw is Dunlopillo does have rather comfy mattresses... Our initial choice was a dunlopillo one... but keep trying and trying so hard to decide... haahaha... we ended up with princebed.. dunno if wrong choice or not, will only knw after sleeping on it in mid feb.. hee

you seem to have gotten ur mattress & frame at super cheap price! good deal!

cnt wait to see picS! :dribble:

Hi Candyprincess,

Thanks for the reply, The reason why I asked about the mattress is that, I could not find this model in Dunlopillo website and want to clarify if its an out dated or discontinued model.

Bought in a bedframe free for mattress promotion. Only mattress is also the same price.

Hi Cavie,

saw your blog. Looks great. Mine is in Clementi. Because of the +cash i spent on my flat, I may not be able to spend that much on the reno. Right now I m facing another problem. I need to vacate my current house in Mid February, and the contractors say its not possible to finish the things I want to do in 3 weeks due to Chinese New Year holidays.

In the process of prioritising my works.

Will get back to you guys with updates. Here is my floor plan

SOMEBODY PLEAAAAASE TELL ME HOW TO CHANGE MY TOPIC HEADING (MATTRESS THING)

hi bommarillu,

this is a great forum with lots of info, it has helped me a lot in my reno :good:

agree with candyprincess, it's hard to give feedback on mattress. i guess you really have to try it yourself and whether you feel comfortable with it or not. thn again, we could only try for that few short minutes so it may not necessarily be the right choice ... we have tried dunlopillo and many other brands, i prefer harder mattress but my wife the opposite :(

anyway good luck to your reno :)

cheers :yamseng:

eh it's not possible to change your thread title unless you get the mods to do it

however, it seems they are pretty slow in responding so some forummers just start another t-blog

:notti: , people are not coming to my blog looking at that title :curse:

anyway, I desparately need some feedback on CITY DESIGN people. I m about to sign the contract with them..

my house is being done by city design, it's great (as in my ID really put in his effort and rush the job for us). have read many not so good comments on this company but it really depends on who you deal with. the workmanship of the tilers that did my house (which they sub-contracted out) is very good. the carpentry works wd be put up end of the week, can't comment yet. overall, attitude (of my ID) is great so is his commitment.

Hi SUNZHI,

thanks for sharing your experience. My ID is also very cooperative so far. Looks like somebody who can stick to the schedule. Have not started the renovation yet, so dont know how its going to be in reality. But I can say that so far they have been good in pre arranging the workers and all, since my schedule is really tight.

wah renovation haven't started you already buy quite a few things liao :D :D

no pix of your purchases?

AppleFreak,

We buy but never brought them home (WE DON EVEN HAVE KEYS OF OUR NEW HOUSE LEH.. WHERE TO KEEP!:jawdrop: who wants to shift new items two times by paying money to movers!) once we start renovation, you will see pics... meanwhile if you wanna see the items, next time I go to IMM or Jurong Point, I ll take pictures... ok!

The reason why we bought so early was the year end sale in many shops that allured us! moreover we are in a rush.. can t really afford to wait till everything is finished. those are the things that we bought over last 2 months by weekend shopping!

AppleFreak,

Thanks 4 keeping my forum alive. Ya... I think we were too excited... Now, when we see the prices dropping further or cheaper at a different place, we bleed! but its always like that.. we need to decide at one point or the other.thats why decided to shop 4 remaining stuff when actual work starts (which is only few days away!!).

BTW, i m going engage supreme lamination for flooring. any opinions on 4.5$/ sqf for AC5 Hardwood series?
