imo, yes. unless your main theme is 'unity in diversity'.

i think for the bedrooms, it's fine to hv different themes to suit the occupants. but i think the main areas should be more or less same-same because the house should be seen as a whole and not as separate areas. hving a similar theme also allows you to move furniture pieces ard easily.

having said that, the theme of my house is 'no theme'. i also think that since it's your house, you can do anything and whatever, because it's yours :jawdrop:

Very messy. In future if you want to sell the house will also be difficult.

To me, simple is best cos got retention value.

Best is to keep the fixture simple. Play around with the furniture to make the theme (as these are disposable) and colors.

the key to a good design: KISS

stick to one theme and apply it throughout the house (living room, kitchen, bedroom, toilet and storeroom/hss). your home will look unified and won't look as if it belongs to different occupants.

it's okay. since you have briefed the id. why not wait and see what magic they can cook up. no harm unless you are rushing for time. don't just brief 1 id, find a few which you like and shortlist their proposal from there. its the id job to ensure that everything gel together.

even our national rojak is made of different ingredients but some rojak is so nice! :( happy reno. happy new year !!

I personally think it's alright. It YOUR house, you do what you want to. Have fun! Don't be bothered by what others tell you to. YOU make the call!

Good decision. Do play more with the furniture and be bold with the colors :D

i think their comments echo the comments here.

if you still want the rojak theme, you may want to consider diy or be the main contractor and sub- each room/area out ala carte style.

sorry not very sure what this means can u explain

actually my wife wanted country style theme for the MBR, while the rest can be other themes.

actually coz there is more than 1 family llving in the house and need to accomdate each taste hence have this idea of each room different theme

but feedbacks from id give me this headache of different theme not like house kinda of feeling so need more feedbacks.

we tot that the living/dining/kitchen have the same theme wld sovle the problem but it seesms it didnt

Like I say before. It is not wrong to have different theme but dun make those theme "dead". Instead, make use of the paint color and furniture to create the theme.

If you interested, watch the deco survivor every mon at 8pm on ch8. Then maybe you will know what I meant.

it means u find 1 designer for each room. then u find the contractor to fix up each room separately.

theme: the central idea of a work.

most people wants a unifying theme so that "it won't look as if it belongs to different occupants" but don't be too caught up with design buzzwords like country style, modern style, resort style, etc. look beyond these terms, think out of the box. it is difficult to accommodate everyone's taste and it is in everyone's interest to find a common denominator.

there are many ways (fortunately) to create a theme.

1. general - contemporary, modern, pop, art nouveau, art deco, baroque, classical, etc

2. locale - thai, balinese, french, indochina, chinese, mughal, middle eastern, american south, etc

3. colours - warm, cool, neutral, pastels, rainbow, etc

4. shapes - regular, irregular, organic, etc

etc etc etc

in your case, you may want to change your brief to your ids, eg. "i want a house with warm colour walls".

then, you varied the questions, eg. "can you make this room a little more resort-like", "how can this bed be made more country-like", etc.

ultimately, you may have a house that's unified by a design element but fulfill the occupants wish to have it look more resort-like, country-like, contemporary.

p/s: i love home deco survivor. but it is, at its core, a made-for-tv entertainment programme. it's great to watch for ideas generation but keep in mind that the hosts only need to fix up 1 room (living/dining room) and there isn't a dire need for them to link up the design considerations of the kitchen and bedrooms to the living/dining room.
