Hi Phoenix,...

Thanks for the suggestion, it really stressed me up a bit yesterday night when Yang Guo pointed this out and last till this morning. well, until now not sure whether our sink is mountable both ways or not. will verify at the scene with renovator.

Hi Applefreak,

I've visited your reno blog sometime back, and even commented your nice gate, and requested some info of your nice ceiling fan (the light mounted on it are very good). And the dining table,... that is the dining table I and Binzz are talking about in her blog! :sport-smiley-004:. very nice also... but am looking to have extra lazy suzie in the middle. Any info on where to get that piece of dining table and how much?.

Binzz told us that she saw one in Carrefour suntec,.. while the one in Boonlay shopping complex is so so.. (very thick polish 'lak', makes it feel plastic and do not have cool effect, or doesn't seems nature stone)

But still not sure whether to get ceiling fan or will do with standing fan, since we already have air-con. tight tight budget... *sigh..

For the sink, thanks a lot for the pointers.. really appreciate it. I think yours is undermount sink, while ours seems like top mount sink, because there's a bulge by the side of the sink. Doesn't seems impressed by the explanation of our renovator. Firstly, he NEVER see the sink at all, second he never consult us and simply mount (shocked me when I saw it is already up), and third, he still argue that undermount is good and suitable and 'norm'. *sigh... jia lat..

Hopefully it turns out good.

Btw, do you mind take an up-close picture of it, especially the gap between your granite top and the sink?. what is it patched up with? silicon?.

hi gadgetgal,

as long as ur sink's top is not "thick", most likely it can be mount under ba..dont worry

i went hoe kee and sim siang choon to see the sink.. 9/10 of the sinks sold there are top mount. 1/10 are undermount. most top mount sink can be mounted under

but not granite sink cos its too thick

information from the staffs, dont blame me if i am wrong hehe.

lifestyle's top mount sink mounted under is done nicely yeah

Hi Gadgetgal/Binzz,

Don't know if I remember correctly, last week or 2 week's back Saturday's newspaper advertised that Harvey Norman (I think at Millemium walk) is selling a marble table (square) at less than $1000. You may want to take a look...

Regards.

Hi Just to share this information.

FSM normally wont recommend a marble table.

Something like it will cause stress and pressure in work.

Something like it is not good if you are working. Many problems.

It is better to have a wood table.

Hi GAD

This is the undermount sink.

That is about more than 10 years ago.

You can see the worksmanship is very bad.

Anyway, you may delete it off, the undermount sink looks awful!!

Ahh... I got you.

do you have the sample reno pictures of both and the effects it produced?.

thanks for pointing out!!. Now we really need to act quick and check with them before they do tiling on my cement sink...

hehehe thanks for visiting my blog

happy to share what i've gone through, hopefully will help in your path-to-dream-home

got the table at a shop in alexandra village, bukit merah lane 1

the shop name is shi hup, and it's next to a 4D shop

paid $1,288 for a 4ft marble table and six chairs with marble seat, all nyatoh wood

but i believe the price went up coz wood had become very expensive in the last few months, compared to when i bought the table (feb 07)

me also looking for lazy susan, if you see one let me know too :)

this is a pix of my sink, showing the edge

it's a top mount sink but can be undermounted too

here's a pix of the silicon sealing the edges

gadgetgal, will you have a solid surface top for your sink or will you be asking your contractor to tile up the area around the sink?

I will be having granite top, as MIL will be needing a more durable materials due to heavy cook.

Btw, anyone have any idea if the bottom of the cement support (the one right underneath the cooker will have tiles or not ar? (all the other 4 side - left, right, front and bottom) have tiles, the top one is only bare cement, while another side is for doors.

Anyone know if the top one should have tiles or bare cement har?. Kinda weired cause the section below the cooker is bare cement.. :sport-smiley-004:

Looks ugly and dirty if we place something below and the residue of the cement dropped.

*Confused...

Apple,... wow!!. thanks a lot... that is really an eye opening for me...

I will post more pics tomorrow once I have finalized some of the item with renovator, cause the tiler cemented like 95% of my sink (below ONLY), and I may not be able to drill a hole through the sink to mount water filter in the future.

aih.... anyone has any recommendation/advice?. (personally think, undermounted water filter may save space above, but may be difficult to maintain - need to squat down to perform maintenance), but again, I have not even source for any water filter as well.

Some update, all my tiling works seems like completed... phew.. other works pending, erecting partition for study room, and some other stuffs.

hi gadget

guess i'm not last to spam here....

btw, how your ID?

our ID?.

Haiizz.. ok lar. I dunno whether I am Gan Cheong type, but I oversee the whole tiling works and visit every two days, while ID, mostly I am chasing him to give me update, etc. But again, he is not much into suggesting what may look nice, etc. everything also up to our preferences.. gave me a feeling of meeting me to request for payment only and discuss what we wanna do next (well, that's the only times I met him and around 2hrs before the tiling work begin). Summary,.. not much into design.

Extra credit to the workmanship though - up to this moment,.. with some minor issues to patch up/fix (yet to finalize cause haven't met him up yet.

Thats a very nice granite undermount sink, we were told by the sales person at the sink shop that granite sink cannot do undermount.. So we stick to stainless steel sink...

almost 90% of the kitchen sinks sold in singapore can be under-mounted

excluding of course those that comes with drainers

guess to undermount a composite sink a concrete support is advisable due to the weight

not sure what other kinds of sink can't be under-mounted !!

Hi PHOENIX

110 sq ft.

Without box up the study room, the living room will be even bigger and airy.

HAPPY

ooh... looks much bigger then 100sqft leh! mine is 113sqft, but how come doesn't look as big as yours? *scratch head*

no stress no stress... relax... :notti: very most if u bought already and it cannot be undermounted, u see if u can do an exchange at the place u bought.

juz take a picture of the side rims of the sink u wanna buy or have bought and show to your contractor or ID. an experienced renovator should be able to tell just by looking at it.
