Aircon Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

Need some advice

We bought a 19 year old resale flat from its 2nd owner who moved in 9 years ago. So the aircon thats in use is 9 years old (National brand i think) and is regularly serviced according to the seller. As currently me and my FH dont have aircon or use aircon more then once or twice a year (when it gets really hot) in our parents place, I was pondering should I replace the aircon or should i just stick with it?

Cause I dont forsee us using it very frequent either. But just wondering is a 9 year old aircon would give more problems even if we use it a few days a year. Getting a new system 3/4 installed to be used only a few times a year doesnt seem cost effective. Will it be more troublesome replacing the aircon after the reno?

If I wanna just remove the aircon and disposed of it, ido i have to hire a seperate contractor that will do it for me? Or will my ID do it for me?

Hi Celest, my opinion : wait till it give problem or break down then replace. Aircon price drops gradually over the years.

Fujitsu System 3 now cost $1599, special offer by gain city.

Wait till u buy new one then dispose. If u dispose now without buying, u will pay disposal fee. If u buy from gain city, they dispose and dismantle trunking for u foc, but u must "sang" them the spoilt aircon. U can push your luck to see if ID will do it for u, but I dont think they are so nice, unless u pay

dun need to buy new one. my wife house aircon is oso very lao kok kok, but still in good shape give cool air. if the aircon u all switch on feel cooling then it's ok. if u don't use it more than once a week dun need to change, if yes then have to. aircon that don't perform will consume more elec cos the AI will tell it to keep making room cooler...
